Research On Multimodal Discourse Of "Talk Show Conference"

Talk Show Conference is an early competitive talk show variety show that combines talk show performance with the rules of competitive competition.The popularity of this show makes the talk show,an originally small form of performance,appear in front of the audience with higher national popularity,which effectively promotes the development of the domestic talk show industry and provides more vivid discourse resources for our linguistic research.In this paper,the multimodal discourse of the competitive variety show Talk Show Conference（the third season）is taken as the research object,and the humorous discourse in the show is analyzed by using visual grammar,multimodal metaphor,metonymy theory and context theory with Praat and Elan discourse analysis software as examples.The specific contents of this paper are as follows:The first chapter is the introduction,which mainly explains the origin of the topic selection,defines the research object,combs the research status of talk show and multimodal discourse,explains the research purpose and significance,and introduces the research methods and corpus sources.The second chapter mainly analyzes the language modality from four angles:phonetic means,lexical means,syntactic means and rhetorical means.Phonetic means mainly use deliberate pauses,changes of speech speed and sound intensity.Lexical means mainly use polysemy,dialect words and fuzziness of words.Syntactic means can be divided into three parts: syntactic isomorphism,syntactic ambiguity and word order change.Rhetorical devices mainly use metaphor,parody and homonym.Chapter three,Body Expression,includes the body movements,facial expressions and eye gaze of talk show actors during the performance.According to the coordination relationship between body movements and language modalities,it can be divided into interpretive movements,indicative movements and descriptive movements.The facial expression part includes the position of the actor’s head,the height and fold of the eyebrows,the shape of the lips,etc.According to the relationship between facial expressions and language modal expressions,it is divided into positive reinforcement,reverse foil and helpless complaints.According to the difference of the interacting subjects,the eye modal part is mainly divided into the eye interaction with the present recipient and the eye interaction with the non-present recipient.The fourth chapter is the background modal part,which is divided into three parts:special subtitles,images and shots.Emphasis on special effects subtitles mainly present objective information,and the animation effect is less.The evaluation and correction special effects subtitles show more subjective information and richer animation effects.Under the influence of cognitive mechanism,images can be divided into multi-modal metaphor images,multi-modal metonymy images and multi-modal metonymy images.In the lens part,combined with the theory of visual grammar,Elan software is used to cut and mark the lens framing size,the lens from horizontal perspective and the lens from vertical perspective of a typical music talk show.The fifth chapter analyzes the cultural context and situational context in the program.The cultural context part discusses the genre structure of the program,and the situational context part analyzes the field,tenor and style of the program.The field part analyzes the communicative purpose of the program,which is entertaining,metaphorical and commercial.The tenor part discusses that the uniqueness of humorous talk show lies in the verbal offense to the superior.The English part discusses the different modes used by talk show actors in different genre steps and the interaction between modes.This paper finds that multimodal theory plays an important role in the study of dynamic discourse of talk show,and can provide theoretical framework and data support for language modality,body movement expression modality and background modality.The conclusions of this paper can provide some help in linguistic theory for the development of talk show programs,and at the same time promote the application of multimodal theory in various dynamic discourse studies.
