The English writing tasks in the College Entrance Examination have become more diversified and open.On one hand,it gives students more space to express.On the other hand,it also examines students’ abilities in more aspects,which greatly increases the difficulty of writing.Teachers expect for a teaching method that can be effectively implemented in high school English writing teaching.The reading-to-write model combines reading teaching and writing teaching together.Through intensive reading and deconstruction of reading materials,students complete their writing tasks.There are many types of writing tasks,like imitation,transcription,continuation and abbreviations according to the reading materials.Under this model,reading and writing can promote each other.This research applied reading-to-write model to English writing teaching in senior high school.Based on input and output hypothesis and lexical chunks theory,this research explores the effectiveness and feasibility of this model.This research aims to answer the following three questions:(1)What methods do the teachers in this high school use to teach English writing? And are there integration and connection of English reading teaching and English writing teaching in this high school?(2)What effects would reading-to-write model have on students’ writing score and writing ability?(3)What effects would reading-to-write model have on the use of English writing strategies of students?The results showed that reading-to-write model is effective to English writing teaching in senior high school and has a positive impact on the use of students’ writing strategies.Through this research,the author also puts forward some suggestions on the implementation of this model in teaching.This study also has some limitations.The reading-to-write model cannot solve all problems of writing teaching.When it is taken into teaching practice,it should be adjusted according to the specific situation.
