A Study Of Master Shandao’s "Four Volumes And Five Volumes"

There are "five parts and nine volumes" in Shandao’s works.The four volumes of the four Sutras of guanjing mainly clarify the classical principles of pure land.The other four parts of the four volumes of the concept and Dharma gate,the praise of Dharma affairs,the praise of passing away,and the praise of banzhou are collectively called "four volumes and five volumes".These "four volumes and five volumes" mainly set the specific practice methods of passing away to the pure land of Amitabha,which is different from the four Sutras of guanjing.At present,the domestic research on Shandao’s works tends to focus on the "four volumes and five volumes" of guanjing.The research on Shandao’s "four volumes and five volumes" has been relatively limited,and the research content focuses on the analysis of its repentance thought and ritual repentance ceremony.There is little attention to the "four volumes and five volumes" literature itself,and the textual research of editions and different texts is rare.Moreover,because Shandao’s works have been lost in China since their birth,they were not able to return from Japan until modern times,Both version and variant studies need to be combined with Japanese and printed jingtuzong documents,so there are some obstacles in the research.At present,the academic research on the "four volumes and five volumes " of Shandao is still relatively scarce.To solve this problem,this paper takes the "four volumes and five volumes" of Shandao as the main research object,and uses the methods of literature research,comparative research and chart enumeration.The main body of the article consists of Shandao and the writing background research,text research and value research of "four volumes and five volumes".The writing background of Shandao and "four volumes and five volumes" first arranges the current research results of Shandao in the academic circles,and summarizes the previous research disputes.Secondly,it summarizes the writing background of "four volumes and five volumes" from the aspects of the inspiration of the three classics of pure land,the arrival of the end of the law era,and the influence of the previous pure land thought.Text research is the key content of this paper,which mainly textual research the title of the "four volumes and five volumes",analyze the content structure,investigate the records flowing into Japan,and clarify the version context of the "four volumes and five volumes" by summarizing the existing versions in Japan,so as to select rare books for different text discrimination,so as to restore the original appearance of the ancient books.As the end of the article,value research discusses the "four volumes and five volumes" of Shandao in two parts:the value of historical materials and the value of philology.The study found that the "four volumes and five volumes" of Shandao had been handed down and recorded in Japan as early as the Nara era.After the establishment of the Japanese Jingtu sect by Guru Faran,there was a gradual upsurge in the publication of Shandao works in Japan,forming far-reaching versions such as the postcard version and the truth version.On the whole,the "four volumes and five volumes" of Shandao are most popular in the Edo period,and the number of existing versions is the largest.At the same time,in the process of spreading in Japan,its literature content has been influenced by Japan’s Jingtu sect,showing a diversified appearance.At present,the popular version in China is transmitted back from Japan,which has the same root and homology with the version handed down by Japan’s jingtuzong.Therefore,Dunhuang documents and ancient Japanese versions are used to calibrate it.After calibration,it is found that the phenomenon of different writing of the same word is concentrated,and some contents are quite different,with the "praise of Dharma" as the most typical.Through this study,it is expected to increase the domestic attention to Shandao’s "four volumes and five volumes",make up for its blank in philology research,and deepen the closely related research on the distribution of Chinese documents and the research on Japanese and engraved jingtuzong documents.
