A Study On The Minor Figures In Chen Yan’s Novels

In order not to "cut away a lot of meaningful and valuable things",Chen Yan opened his "novel world" after "Xijing Story".His novels inherit the "little man" writing tradition that appeared in the 19 th century European literature and had a profound influence through Pushkin,Gogol,Dostoyevsky,Chekhov,etc.,focusing on the weak group in society--the little people.The unique life experience of "drama" and rich writing experience of "drama" make Chen Yan "write with drama".With love,compassion and respect,he "speaks for the weak and writes biographies for the insignificant".This kind of writing of "little people" not only records the real life of the real society with literature,but also raises the public’s attention to the little people and triggers a group of intellectuals to think about the social reality,which has important social value and literary value.This paper is divided into three parts: introduction,text and conclusion.The first part is the introduction part.This paper mainly reviews the research status of Chen Yan and his novels in China and expounds the reason and significance of the topic.The second part is the body part,mainly including three aspects.On the first hand,taking the small figure images in Chinese and Russian works as an example,this paper analyzes the evolution of the small figure images in The history of Russian literature and Chinese modern and contemporary literature,indicating that the concept of "small figure" has a long history and its connotation is constantly changing with the change of time and space.The second aspect is to summarize the minor figures in Chen Yan’s works.According to Balzac’s "Human Comedy" principle of "good and evil opposition",the minor figures in his novels are classified into positive figures and negative figures.Through the in-depth study of the positive and negative characters in the novel,it is explained that Chen Yan really shows the complexity of human nature when he creates a bright little person image.The third part discusses the reason and practical significance of Chen Yan’s writing about the little people.Chen Yan’s writing of the little people is the inheritance and development of traditional culture,the adherence and innovation of realism and the humanitarian concern for the little people.The third part is the conclusion.Chen Yan takes time as longitude and space as latitude,and shows the group picture of little people in the social process through time and space.Finally,it summarizes Chen Yan’s inheritance and innovation in the image of little people.
