| From the frequent retrospection of revolutionary history and family stories,to the historical retelling of collective experience and public memory, and now to the insightful search for social reality and the heart of the world, the "post-80s" writer,Zheng Xiaolv has always paid close attention to the issue of modernity under the evolution of history, writing about history and reality, expressing experiences and feelings with cold strokes and compassionate feelings. This thesis takes Zheng Xiaolv’s fiction as the main object of study.Using textual reading, comparative analysis and narratological research methods,it analyses how the author constructs the correspondence between individual experience, historical memory and realistic demands in an effective discursive space, and explores the unique personality of Zheng Xiaodong’s fiction in "post-80s" literature and contemporary literature. The main text is divided into three chapters. The first chapter focuses on Zheng Xiaolv’s historical narrative, analysing the ways in which he reconstructs history and exploring the author’s historical consciousness and historical sensibilities. On the one hand, the author follows the memory of his grandparents and fathers, and stands from a folk position and a human perspective, completing the identification of his family’s story and a holistic view of revolutionary history through his non-personal historical imagination. On the other hand, the author returns to the historical scene and carefully touches the collective memory, relying on the historical retelling of the "post-80s" generation’s personal experiences to hold accountable the violent acts disguised as the legality of the birth control policy and to explore the complexities and failures of human nature under specific historical conditions. The author also explores the complexity and misconduct of human nature under specific historical conditions.Under the call of history,Zheng Xiaolv’s novel reclaims the classic issues of literary history, summoning the undercurrents of memory lurking in the long river of history with fictional pleasure and ghostly passion.Based on individual memory, experience and imagination, they reconstruct the face of history in self-perception,presenting a reflective consciousness and historical thickness that is lacking in most post-80 s writing. The second chapter begins with the realistic concerns of Zheng Xiaolv’s novels and explores his motives for moving from history to reality.Since the beginning of the new century, the historical experience constructed by personal memory and perceptual thinking alone is obviously unable to respond to the diverse and confusing context of reality, and it is difficult to complete the confirmation of the subject’s identity. The narration of history cannot be divorced from the contemplation of reality, and the active construction of a discourse space from history to reality has become an inevitable choice for writers to reshape their spiritual subjects. Therefore,Zheng Xiaolv simply turns to reality, deconstructing and reconstructing the current social problems and the situation of young people, facing the unavoidable themes of the "post-80s" generation, such as the reality of the times, identity and spiritual values, writing about the dense suffering of the losers, looking directly at the collapsed hearts of young people, and asking about the social causes of this existential dilemma. It also looks into the heart of the young people’s defeat and asks about the social causes of this predicament. The proliferation of consumerism has led to the alienation of values.Under the logic of modern capital and the powerful operation of a single social judging system, the living space of the underclass youth is squeezed and the dignity of their values is mocked, and the unreliability of fleeing and retaliating makes the disillusioned fall into the mire of decadence and emptiness again.By writing about the plight of failed youths, the author metaphorically illustrates the symptoms and hidden worries of youth groups under the evolution of modernisation, and thus unveils the many shadows and contradictions in the social reality, pondering the fate of the youths of the underclass in contemporary China, showing the author’s strong social concern and humanistic care. How to effectively express history and reality is Zheng Xiaolv’s consistent aesthetic pursuit, and the third Chapter discusses the narrative art of Zheng Xiaolv’s novel, which balances the literary and aesthetic aspects of the novel. The analysis of Zheng Xiaolv’s ingenuity in narrative perspective, spatial and temporal form, and imagery creation in the context of specific texts demonstrates the author’s self-conscious stylistic awareness and strong narrative ability. The painstaking management of the novel’s artistic form is also a useful exploration of the current path of realist writing. The concluding section summarizes the stages of Zheng Xiaolv’s creative process and the changes in its development, points out the value and limitations of his writing in post-80 s literature, and expresses expectations for the writer’s future writing. |
