China’s piano music creation was initiated by Mr.Zhao Yuanren and other representatives of the older generation musicians.Since then,generations of the new era’s composers have been forging ahead on the road of Chinese piano music’s national style under their influence.Especially after the reform and opening-up,more and more new generation pianists in China continue to innovate and develop on the basis of active inheritance,which further promotes the development of Chinese piano music.Among them,Tan Dun,a famous Chinese artist in America,is one of the representatives.As a famous composer both at home and abroad,Tan Dun has integrated the traditional Chinese music culture with the modern western music culture.He boldly innovated,enriched the musical form and opened up a new style of creation.His works also have a high appreciation significance.Memories of Eight Watercolors is a representative piano work of Tan Dun in the early stage of creation,and also one of the outstanding Chinese national style piano works in modern times.This group of piano work is also one of the key pieces to study during the author’s master degree and one of the songs at graduation concert for art graduate students.For the above reasons,this set of piano works became the research and analysis object of the author’s graduation thesis. |
