| On National Education Conference held on September 10 to 11,2018,Chairman Xi pointed out once again,"We should integrate cultivating morality and nurturing people with different links of ideological and political education,cultural knowledge and social practice education.Ideological and political education should be covered in basic education,vocational education,higher education and so on." At the meeting,ideological and political education was once again put on the agenda of education reform and practice.In view of this,a Grade-10 English lesson plan leader who has been teaching for 9 years has been selected as the research subject.With the help of interview,text analysis and classroom observation,the teacher’s ideological and political education is studied from the aspects of teaching perception,design and practice in order to answer the following questions:(1)What is the teacher’s perception of ideological and political education in English class?;(2)What is the teacher’s design of ideological and political education in English class?(3)What is the teacher’s practice of ideological and political education in English class?The study finds that:(1)The teacher’s ideological and political perception is incomplete.The teacher believes that the belief of ideological and political education only includes socialist core values and moral education,and ideological and political education is equivalent to moral education and emotional education;(2)The teacher’s ideological and political teaching objectives and teaching activities are relatively monotonous.Among the six items of cultivating morality and nurturing people,only the sixth item which means that efforts should be concentrated on cultivating students’ comprehensive qualities is covered,accounting for 43%.Socialist core values is not involved.Among the four items of English Subject Core Competence,language ability(32%),cultural awareness(14%),thinking quality(11%)are involved.No teaching objectives or activities of learning ability is involved.(3)The teacher’s practical ability of ideological and political teaching is relatively weak.Some of the ideological and political objectives in the teaching plans have not been realized,and relevant teaching activities can not be found.In addition,the contents of teaching practice are mostly come up with instantly in class,and the contents of ideological and political courses is not deep and substantial enough.These findings show that ideological and political education of senior high school English teachers’ still needs to be strengthened.The author puts forward some suggestions from the following aspects.(1)Educational departments: education bureau should organize relevant seminars and lectures given by experts,so that teachers have more opportunities to learn more advanced teaching methods and teaching technologies to conduct ideological and political education;Schools can invite experts,contact with famous teacher studios,excellent teachers and demonstration schools,so as to provide more opportunities for teachers to strengthen ideological and political perception,design and practice.At the same time,an evaluation mechanism can be established to integrate ideological and political education into teachers’ evaluation and improve teachers’ awareness;(2)In terms of teachers’ professional development,normal universities should improve the cultivation of students’ ideological and political perception,design and practice by setting relevant courses;(3)Teachers themselves should strengthen learning,update teaching beliefs,strengthen after-class reflections,and listen to other teachers’ class for observation and learning. |
