In the process of translating the international film festival model,BJIFF and HKIFF have established a film festival structure and developed a curatorial practice with local characteristics-the programming of Chinese film history.Their continuous development not only reflects the complex operation mechanism behind film festival curation, but also reflects the translation, enrichment and development of film festival culture in the Chinese-speaking region. This paper is divided into three main chapters. The first chapter, through the identification of the "stakeholders" involved in the film festival, illustrates how BJIFF and HKIFF have translated and adapted two different international film festival models to the Chinese-speaking region.Chapter two compares the two film festivals on the basis of their curatorial practices in Chinese film history,to demonstrate that their final curatorial outcomes are closely related to the negotiation between different "stakeholders" in the film festival curatorial process and the cultural context of the city in which the film festival is located. This chapter also reflect on the shortcomings of Chinese film history curation in both film festival. The third chapter summarizes the importance of the programming of Chinese film history in providing public cultural services and promoting film historiography, and concludes with some practical suggestions for the future development of Chinese film history curatorship at BJIFF.
