Study On Poetics Of Seamus Heaney

Seamus Heaney（1939–2013）was an Irish poet and critic.He was awarded the Nobel Prize in Literature in 1995.His poetic works have received more attention and research,while his poetics have received less research.This article attempts to take Heaney’s collected essays Preoccupations: Selected prose 1968—1978,The Government of the Tongue,The Redress of Poetry,and Crediting Poetry（Nobel Speech）as the research objects,combined with the compilation of essays: Finder and Keeper: Selected Prose 1971-2001,Stepping Stones :Interviews with Seamus Heaney,to explore Heaney’s poetic thought and focus on the balance between the aesthetic and social aspects of poetic art creation question.The first and second chapters mainly expound the historical and cultural background of the emergence of Heaney’s poetics.The first chapter mainly defines the concept of "poetics",studies Heaney’s general literary theory in a broad sense,and discusses Heaney’s the rules of poetry creation in a narrow sense;summarizes and refines the specific content of Heaney’s poetics and combines the political and cultural context and theoretical origins to make a general interpretation of Heaney’s poetic thought.The second chapter mainly discusses the relationship between Heaney poetics and the Irish poetic tradition and the relationship between Heaney poetics and the British poetic tradition,explores the deep influence mechanism of Heaney poetics,and consider the influence of the poetic thoughts of classic poets in history on Heaney’s poetics from the perspective of poetry content and poetry form.The Irish poetic tradition discusses the relationship between literature and social reality at the social level of poetry,and similarly,the English poetic tradition explores the issue of poetic language expression at the aesthetic level of poetry.The third chapter mainly combines Heaney’s collection of essays and poetry works,sorts out the specific content of Heaney’s poetics,and analyzes Heaney’s poetic vision and poetry.This chapter mainly expounds Heaney’s point of view on the aesthetics of poetry art.The first section of the third chapter studies Heaney’s vision of poetry,mainly discussing Heaney’s handling of poetic images,focusing on excavating the objective counterparts of historical culture and historical events,and paying attention to the image expression of abstract things from the perspective of the mind.The second section of the third chapter studies Heaney’s poetic auditory view,pointing out that Heaney pays attention to the auditory experience formed by the sound of poetry,that is,the sound originating from nature and society and the tradition of poetry,showing the materiality of words and the imagination inspired by the sound of poetry.The fourth chapter discusses Heaney’s view of poets.This chapter mainly expounds Heaney’s view on the sociality of poetry art.The first section of the fourth chapter studies the topic of the relationship between poets and poetry,and expounds the idea of poets’ poetry creation,that is,poets "discover poetry" and "keep poetry".Chapter 4,Section 2,studies the topic of the relationship between poets and the world.Heaney asks poets to respond to the world,that is,poets create poems with corrective functions;poets must build up the character of poets who are loyal to justice and undertake poetic responsibilities.The fifth chapter evaluates Heaney’s poetics in the domestic context of China,focusing on the influence of Heaney’s poetics on the Chinese poetry world in the 1990 s,and its enlightenment to Chinese poetry creation in the 21 st century.This chapter fully affirms the importance of Heaney’s poetics to the reconstruction of the balance between aesthetics and sociality of poetry in contemporary Chinese poetry.
