| Domestic violence occurs between family members(such as spouse,husband and wife,cohabiting partner,etc.),causing physical or psychological harm to one of them.Its causes are very complex and harmful.It causes the disintegration of the family,endangers the physical and mental health of the weak(women,children,the elderly,the disabled),leads to violent crimes,and seriously affects the stability of society.Domestic violence is now widely recognized globally as a public issue requiring external intervention by States and Governments,which have developed a large number of laws and public policies to address domestic violence.Domestic violence has improved since the promulgation of the Anti-Domestic Violence Law of the People’s Republic of China in 2016,but many issues remain unresolved.This paper investigates the situation of domestic violence in Haikou city of Hainan province by means of questionnaire,and puts forward some suggestions from the angle of public relations management through literature research and comparative reference.Through empirical research,it is found that domestic violence in Haikou City has the following characteristics:First,domestic violence in adults is dominated by cold violence and verbal violence,and domestic violence in minors is dominated by physical violence and verbal violence;Second,the proportion of female victims of domestic violence is higher than that of male victims;Third,the proportion of violence among low-income groups is higher;Fourth,people who suffer domestic violence at an early age are more likely to become perpetrators.The main causes of domestic violence in Haikou City are gender inequality,low education level,low income,life pressure caused by domestic violence,and the intergenerational transmission of domestic violence.Therefore,it should be managed from five aspects:First,the establishment of a multi-agency joint governance system;The second is to fonn a working mechanism to detect,deal with and intervene in domestic violence;Third,to cultivate awareness of equality between men and women;Fourth,strengthen the publicity and supervision of public opinion;Fifth,improving the personal quality of female victims. |
