The existence of computer fonts is getting higher and higher, and more and more legal problems are coming.China’s current legal system has no specific provisions on how to protect computer fonts,so the courts in different regions have different judgments on such cases.By sorting out the infringement disputes related to computer fonts that have occurred in recent years, the focus of the dispute is mainly on whether the fonts as a whole are protected by copyright laws, whether words can independently constitute works, and implied licensing issues in font infringement.First of all, computer typeface and computer fonts should be included in the scope of different works, and the two should not affect each other when judging originality. Then starting from the composition requirements of the work, analyzing the tangible copyability of computer fonts, the creative labor and artistic quality invested in the creative process,it is concluded that computer fonts belong to the copyright object.Second, the method of judging whether a single word in a computer font can constitute a work is to analyze from two points of "independent completion" and "creativity",so as to judge whether the specific word in the font meets the originality standard required by the copyright law. From the perspective of law and economics, whether the originality meets the requirements of fine art works,if it meets the requirements,it can be independently protected by copyright law.Third, the identification of the implied license in the field of copyright should take into account the absolute nature of the copyright and the balance of interests of all parties, which is embodied in the behavior of the implied license and the subjective and objective requirements.Among them, the subjective and objective requirements are the right holder’s wishes, reasonable expectations and whether to pay reasonable consideration.
