An Intervention Study On Crisis Of Suicide Risk Of Prisoners In Prison

"Zero suicide" is an important part of prison security concept.In the United States,the suicide rate among inmates is 50 percent higher than that of the general population.In Britain,the suicide rate among prisoners is four times higher than that of the general population.In mainland China,statistics show that the frequency of suicide(including attempted suicide)among prisoners in prison is several times or even dozens of times higher than that of the society.Especially in recent years,the suicide of prisoners shows an obvious rising trend.The suicide of prisoners is a hot issue of social concern,which has a bad negative effect and far-reaching social repercussion.It not only brings endless pain to the family,but also seriously affects the supervision and security of the prison and the social image.Therefore,it is of great significance to study the risk of suicide in prison.Tao Mou,a prisoner in S Prison,has committed fewer crimes,suffered from severe crimes,died of illness,lost his family,lost his future,and attempted suicide twice,which is typical and representative among prisoners at risk of suicide.As a judicial social worker working in S prison,taking Tao as an object,this paper makes a one-year empirical study on the intervention of suicide risk crisis of prisoners,analyzes the abnormal performance,suicide causes and personal needs in Tao’s prison,promptly intervenes in the crisis,conducts grief counseling,guides him to resolve grief emotions,conducts family therapy,helps him feel love and belonging,uses the superior perspective,inputs hope for him,and helps him improve the social support network,link various resources,and change irrational beliefs.After seven and a half months of professional service,the case was successfully closed,followed by long-term follow-up service,and eight return visits to prove that by using listening,empathy,equality,sincerity and other skills,as well as interpreting,strengthening and awakening,crisis intervention can reduce the rejection psychology of the case owner,enhance the trust of the case owner,help the case owner understand suicide behavior as a whole,enhance the power of the case owner,help the case owner face up to life,and finally realize Tao’s peaceful transformation and return to society in the prison area after closing the case.
