A Research On The Ceremony Of "Carrying Wang Gong" In Gaohu Village In Southern Anhui

Ceremony is an extremely common behavior pattern that runs through the development of human culture.It has various functions and meanings.For Chinese folk beliefs,it has at least social enlightenment,community integration,and cultural inheritance.The author chose Gaohu Village,a traditional small mountain village in the southern part of Anhui Province,as the site of the field survey,and placed the research content at the "Carrying Wang Gong" ceremony on the Double Ninth Festival,which is closely connected with the faith and life of local villagers.The follow-up investigation throughout the process explores how the ceremony connects and interacts with villagers,families,and villages,and then reveals the social and cultural functions of the "Carrying Wang Gong" ceremony in the rural society of the village.At the same time,through analyzing the functional value presented behind the ceremony of "Carrying Wang Gong",it explores the survival meaning of the ceremony of "Carrying Wang Gong" in the context of contemporary rural social changes.Starting from the natural and social and cultural environment of Gaohu Village,this article has carried out a detailed survey of the daily life of the local village community,showing the village’s livelihood,surname relationship,and belief space system,as well as the birth and survival of Gaohu Village’s "Carrying Wang Gong" Soil.Through personally participating in the "Carrying Wang Gong" ceremony and interviews with related personnel,the author learned about the origin,time,ritual symbols and taboos of the "Carrying Wang Gong" ceremony.On this basis,the author uses the functional theory of rituals and symbolic anthropology to analyze the social function and cultural connotation of the "Carrying Wang Gong" ritual.The author believes that the "Carrying Wang Gong" ritual has the meaning for individuals and families.The function of social enlightenment is to root the concept of practicing filial piety in the hearts of villagers by evoking the memories of ancestors,clarifying the role of villagers in the family,and maintaining family order.For different families and village communities,the "Carrying Wang Gong" ceremony condenses a strong centripetal force.The villagers participate in the ceremony to strengthen the connection between families and promote the integration of the village community.Finally,in terms of the cultural tradition of the village,the continuation of the ceremony of "Carrying Wang Gong" from generation to generation helped the Wang family trace the history of the clan and strengthened the cultural identity of the local people with the traditional festival-the Double Ninth Festival.Not only that,the author also put forward the concepts of "village sacrifice circle" and "lianzhuang sacrifice circle" based on the theory of sacrifice circle in Taiwan,and concluded that the integration and connection social function of the ceremony of "Carrying Wang Gong" still remained in the inter-village range.Applicable,manifested in adjusting inter-village relations and alleviating village conflicts.Finally,the author reflects on the contemporary influence of the ceremony of "Carrying Wang Gong".Regarding the positive and positive cultural connotations presented by the ceremony of “Carrying Wang Gong”,such as respect for the elderly,harmony in the family,unity of the village,and regional stability,we must continue to carry forward and actively pass on,but we must eliminate some of the disharmonious factors conveyed in the "Carrying Wang Gong" ceremony,such as blind comparisons and inequality between men and women.
