A Study On Japan’s Post-cold-war Military Intelligence Work Towards China

Based on literature research and comparative analysis,this paper makes a comprehensive and systematic study on Japan’s military intelligence to China after the cold war.Horizontally,the main measures of Japanese military intelligence to China are discussed comprehensively.Vertically,it summarizes the distinctive characteristics of Japan’s military intelligence to China for a long time.After the cold war,Japan has constantly focused on China in intelligence policy,continuously promoted the integration of intelligence agencies,Strengthened the deployment of reconnaissance forces against China in the east China sea,Improved the military attache,spy and other human intelligence networks in China,and expanded new cooperation partners under the framework of Japan-US intelligence cooperation against China.Through research,the author believes that Japan has always attached great importance to military intelligence work against China,carried on its intelligence collection traditions since modern times,and attached great importance to relying on the power of the United States in intelligence system construction and intelligence cooperation.In general,on the one hand,Japan’s military intelligence agencies to China are numerous and have a wide range of information sources.On the other hand,Japan’s military intelligence work against China lacks coordination and is restricted by the United States.In addition,Japan’s political situation is often unstable,which weakens the continuity of its reconnaissance force construction against China.After the cold war,Japan has gradually strengthened its military intelligence work against China,which intensifies the military confrontation between China and Japan.The United States has increased its military preparations for Japan on the issue of Diaoyu Islands.The US meddling in the Diaoyu Islands has added difficulty for China in terms of its military struggle against Japan.In this regard,the author proposes to deal with it from five aspects: removing the institutional obstacles in China military intelligence construction system against Japan,seizing the technical heights in emerging fields,strengthening the battlefield intelligence construction on Diaoyu Islands,learning from the Japanese intelligence system of "integrating the government and the civil society" to promote military and civilian integration,and systematically strengthening the anti-intelligence work against Japan.
