African American Conservatism ——A Study Centered On Sowell

African American Conservatism is an important but undervalued tradition of Black political thought.In the competitive environment of parties,the concept and value of Black Conservative ideology lack clarification,and domestic research on this ideological trend is still in its infancy.With the thinker Thomas Sowell as the core,this paper analyzes the ideological connotation and conceptual characteristics of black conservatism,reviews its ideological value and limitations,and explores its influence on American political practice.Black conservatism has its historical tradition.It attracted the attention of the political and academic circles in the 1980 s.Black conservatism is characterized by individualism,refusal to highlight the analytical framework of race,emphasis on equality of opportunity,and dystopia,and resets conservative ideological resources around the development of black people.As an important figure in promoting the rise of contemporary black conservatism,Sowell challenged and responded to the ideological views of left-wing progressives.He analyzed the negative effects of racial preferential policies,and explained the feasibility and significance of "color blindness".And he explored the interaction between culture and economy,and believed that focusing on social education was more conducive to the economic development of blacks than launching culture wars.In addition,from the perspective of knowledge and vision,he made a new interpretation of the classical liberal view of spontaneous order and limited government,and criticized the left’s view of strengthening government intervention.The criticism of Sowell by conservatives and liberals reflects the diversity and limitations within black conservatism.In terms of impact on American politics,black conservatism may,in a negative sense,contribute to the polarization of the United States.In a positive sense,black conservatism,which reconciles the conservative tradition with the agenda of racial freedom and equality,can provide a "third way" and lead to the rise of the middle power.
