Research On The Problems Of The Application Of The VAR In Football Contest

In recent years,the Video Assistance Referee(VAR)has begun to make its mark in many football contests,and at the same times,under the help of FIFA,the VAR has been applied in the 2018 World Cup Russia and the 2019 World Cup France.While contributing to accuracy of the decisions and ensuring the synchronous development between men’s and women’s football,the applications of the VAR has also caused many problems,and external evaluations have been mixed.In order to achieve a sustainable development of the VAR,it is necessary to start a scientific analysis from the actual application situation,find out the problems and then improve it.This article adopts literature data method,video observation method,case analysis method,comparative analysis method and mathematical statistics method to analyze the application situation,problems and improvement strategies of the VAR in the 2018 Russia World Cup and 2019 France World Cup:(1)Referees in the World Cup are in great need of assistances from the VAR,and it takes a long time to complete an application of the VAR during the match.(2)The intervention of the VAR is more frequently in key areas,key moments of the match,and key stage of the contest.At the same time,the referees’ familiarity with the VAR and the importance of the match will prolong the intervention time-consuming.(3)In the 2018 World Cup Russia,the whole referee groups have a stronger ability to apply the VAR and faster to get into the law enforcement mode,the performances of law enforcement are less affected by a change of stamina and importance of the match,but they are lack of the ability to make accurate decision in serious foul play.(4)In the Women’s World Cup France 2019,the referees’ familiarity with the VAR and teams’ cooperation are low,the overall level of law enforcement is lower than that in Russia,and the changes of stamina and importance of the match have a great impact on the performances of law enforcement,but they are more comfortable with the new law enforcement habits.(5)In order to solve the problem of the time of the match is prolonged due to too much intervention of the VAR and a long time-consuming,the method of reviewing can be simplified to optimize and improve the intervention process.At the same time,a further improve the overall law enforcement level of the referees,especially to strengthen the construction and training of the female referee group is also needed.(6)In order to stabilize the status of the referee as the main body of law enforcement and ensure the authority of their decisions,a more fair and open method of reviewing should be selected to strengthen the disclosure of information in the process.At the same time,help others to establish a correct understanding of the Laws of the Game and the VAR,and improve the sense of participation of audiences during the process of making decisions can help to avoid the decrease of ornamental value of the match.(7)In order to prevent the problem of a reducing in penalty’s scoring rate resulted on the increasing of athletes’ mental stress that caused by the intervention of the VAR,it is necessary to strengthen the psychological exercise of athlete by scene setting in daily training,and cultivate a strong will quality to improve the ability to withstand stress and adaptability to the interventions of the VAR,and ensure the stability of the match performance.
