Research On The Influences Of Chinese Outward Foreign Direct Investment On Domestic Employment

With the acceleration of the process of global economic integration,the sense of competition in the international market has been continuously strengthened.Since the beginning of the 21st century,Chinese OFDI has developed rapidly and ranked among the top in the world.While making full use of domestic capital,it drives the growth of national economy and plays an increasingly important role in the national economic system.The influence of the world economy on China has become more obvious while China takes an active part in international trade.In recent years,the recession of the world economy makes Chinese enterprises in a very severe external environment,which has a very serious impact on Chinese employment.So how to stabilize employment and alleviate the employment pressure has become a social problem to be solved by Chinese government urgently.This paper analyzes the employment effect of Chinese OFDI by combining theoretical analysis with empirical analysis.Through the analysis of the transmission mechanism,the employment effect of Chinese OFDI is tested from the perspective of the whole and different industries.And find that:(1)The employment in China has obvious spatial correlation,in which high value is adjacent to high value and low value is adjacent to low value.(2)From the whole view,Chinese OFDI plays a significant role in promoting employment.Because of the spatial effect,the development of OFDI will not only promote the employment in this region,but also promote the employment level in neighboring regions.(3)Foreign R&D spillover brought by OFDI will also significantly promote employment,and the spatial spillover effect is also very significant.(4)The impact of OFDI on employment has significant threshold characteristics.When the stock of OFDI is taken as the threshold variable,the employment effect is always positive,but with the increase of its own level,it tends to decrease at first and then increase.When the R&D spillover and technological innovation level of OFDI are taken as threshold variables,the promotion effect of OFDI on employment will increase with the increase of threshold variables.When the trading level is taken as the threshold variable,the employment effect of OFDI will also show a trend of gradual increase,and the promotion effect will change from insignificant to significant.(5)From the perspective of industry,the OFDI of the overall manufacturing industry and technology-intensive industries promote employment.However,for labor-intensive industries,there will be a certain effect of employment substitution.The employment effect on capital-intensive industries is not significant.(6)The OFDI of the overall service industry promotes employment,which is mainly reflected in the producer service industry.The employment effect of OFDI in the consumer service industry is negative.This paper is divided into the following parts.The first part introduces the background and significance of the research,introduces the main research content and methods,and puts forward the innovation and shortcomings.The second part reviews relevant theories and literatures.The third part analyzes the current situation of Chinese OFDI and employment.The fourth part analyzes the transmission mechanism the way that Chinese OFDI influences employment,and the existing spatial effect and threshold characteristics.The fifth part verifies the impact on employment of OFDI through spatial and threshold models.The sixth part verifies the influence of OFDI and employment from the industrial level.The last part summarizes the conclusions of this paper and put forward policy recommendations based on the above content.
