The Labor Process Of Domestic Workers

With the rapid development of aging society,the introduction of the two-child policy,the marketization of the function of the Nuclear family,and the upgrading of people’s consumption concept,people are increasingly inclined to buy housekeeping services in the market.Domestic workers and their labor process and labor relations have gradually become a hot topic of concern from all walks of life.This research mainly focuses on the labor process of the baby-care domestic workers.Through the analysis and description of the labor process of the baby-raising domestic workers,discuss the company and employers’ discipline and control methods for the daily-life labor process of the baby-raising domestic workers,and how the baby-raising domestic workers can use their own subjective consciousness and independent actions to fight for the control of both company and employer.How do the company,the employer and the baby-care domestic worker carry out the interaction and the game in the labor process of the baby-raising domestic workers.In this article,taking the baby-raising domestic workers of Zhengzhou Y Housekeeping Company as an example,in-depth interviews were used to conduct detailed communication with 11 baby-raising domestic workers and 2 managers.The main contents of the research include:As the manager of the baby-raising domestic workers,how does Y housekeeping company control baby-raising domestic workers.As the buyers and consumers of labor services,how can employers implement on-site control for the labor process of baby-care domestic workers.Under the control of the both,the baby-care domestic workers,as the labor service provider and the labor process practitioner,how to form their labor subject consciousness and how to express their autonomous actions.From the perspective of the labor process theory,this paper conducts a qualitative study of the labor process of domestic workers,focusing on the analysis and elaboration of the labor process of domestic workers.In the research,it is found that the company’s control mechanism for employees is gradually strengthened from the outside to the inside.Employers use a combination of rigidity and softness,as well as lenient and strict control methods,to achieve their seizure of control over the labor process.Although the fighting style of domestic workers under this kind of control has its active characteristics,it is more flexible and gentle.The article mainly analyzes the labor practice of baby-raising domestic workers from the perspective of labor process,and the object of analysis is limited to the professional identity of baby-raising domestic workers.The influence of the individual’s urban and rural identity or gender age on the labor process and struggle strategies,as well as the application and expansion of different theoretical perspectives,need to be further studied and discussed in the future.
