| As the most influential and popular basketball league in the world,the National Basketball Association(NBA)represents the highest level of basketball.In the 2018-2019 NBA Finals,the Toronto Raptors defeated the defending champion Golden State Warriors by a score of 4-2 to win the first NBA championship in its team history.The author firstly uses the rank-sum ratio method to rate the offensive and defensive abilities of the Raptors and Warriors in the 2018-2019 NBA playoffs,and then takes the offensive and defensive abilities of the Raptors and Warriors shown in the six games of the 2018-2019 NBA Finals as the objects of study,uses the offensive and defensive statistics of the two teams as the basis,combines the idea of mathematical statistics and uses the method of data analysis to analyze the collected data in order to explore the differences in the offensive and defensive abilities of the two teams in this Finals,and try to make suggestions to provide theoretical guidance for the development of China’s basketball career,the management of basketball teams,and the training of basketball players.This paper adopts the method of literature analysis,mathematical statistics,video observation and rank-sum ratio to collect and collate the offensive and defensive data indicators in six games of the 2018-2019 NBA Finals between Toronto Raptors and Golden State Warriors,and draws the following conclusions through analysis:(1)Basic aspects of the Raptors and WarriorsIn terms of age,the average age of Raptors’ players is 28.8 years old while the average age of Warriors’ players is 29.2 years old,so Toronto Raptors has a younger age structure.In terms of body shape,the average height of Warriors’ players is 200.2cm and the average weight of its players is 98.5kg while the average height of Raptors’ players is 197.2cm and the average weight of its players is 96.5kg,which indicates that Warriors has a physical advantage against the Raptors.(2)Offensive and defensive ratings of the Raptors and Warriors among the playoff teamsIn the playoffs,the Raptors is a team with strong offensive and defensive ability,whose offensive ability RSR value is 0.71,rating as a B-grade team;defensive ability RSR value is 0.70,rating as a B-grade team;offensive and defensive ability RSR value is 0.84,rating as an A-grade team,comprehensively ranking second among the eight Eastern teams.In the playoffs,the Warriors is team with strong offensive and weak defensive ability,whose offensive ability RSR value is 0.83,rating as an A-grade team;defensive ability RSR value is 0.58,rating as a C-grade team;and offensive and defensive ability RSR value is 0.75,rating as a B-grade team,comprehensively ranking second among the eight Western teams.(3)Offensive aspectIn this Finals,the Raptors’ two-point shooting ability and free-throw ability are stronger than the Warriors’,but the Warriors’ three-point shooting ability has a certain advantage;in terms of turnovers,the Raptors’ ability to control turnovers is significantly stronger than the Warriors’,which presents a significant difference through the data t-test(p=0.009<0.05);in terms of assist ability,the Warriors is significantly better than the Raptors,which presents a significant difference through the data t-test(p=0.049<0.05);the Raptors is better than the Warriors in fast break scoring ability;the Raptors are slightly better than the Warriors in the ability of offensive rebounds and second offense scoring.In terms of fouls,the Raptors are better than the Warriors at controlling their own team’s fouls and creating fouls for the opposing team.(4)Defensive aspectIn this Finals,the Raptors is better at stealing and grabbing defensive rebounds than the Warriors while the Raptors is slightly weaker than the Warriors in blocking ability.(5)Offensive and defensive abilities of starters and substitutesIn this finals,the Raptors’starters are better than the Warriors’starters in the abilities of PPG,rebounds,and stealing but weaker than the Warriors’ starters in the abilities of assist and blocking;In the terms of substitutes,the Raptors is weaker than the Warrior in the abilities of assist and rebound while better than Warrior in other respects. |
