With the development of economy and the improvement of women’s education, women have become the major force in the labor market in recent years. However,in the domestic field, women are still the main bearers of domestic work burdens. The dual“squeezing” of work and family poses a great challenge to the energy and physical strength of women in China. In the face of gender inequality in the division of housework, this article starts with the time of housework for men and women in married families and tries to find out the factors that affect the division of labor within households. This has positive and practical significance for uncovering the “black box” of the division of labor in our country, helping married women find ways to balance family and work, and the development of home-labour-related derivative industries. This paper selects the data of the “China Family Panel Survey” database for 2016,summarizes the influencing factors of household labor time allocation through literature induction and theoretical derivation, and constructs the household labor time influencing factor model according to the Hierarchical Linear Model(HLM)modeling method.Based on this, the sub-models of the hierarchical linear model are used to gradually determine the factors affecting household labor time of married women and men.Firstly, the zero model in the hierarchical linear model was used to test the effect of different ages on housework time, showing that there was a difference between family groups at different ages.Secondly,by constructing a sub-model of the random intercept model,The influence of various factors on housework time is not considered in the age stage. Then,a stochastic coefficient model is constructed based on the random intercept model to illustrate whether the influence of various factors on housework time may be restricted by different age stages. Finally, the complete model sub-model is used to illustrate the effect of different ages on the factors affecting household work time.Based on the empirical results, this article summarizes the influencing factors of married men and women’s housework time, and analyzes the differences and causes of the factors affecting the time of housework for men and women.Based on the analysis of the differences in male and female household work influencing factors, this paper provides feasible suggestions on the development of home appliance industry and domestic service industry. The paper empirically analyzes the factors affecting the time of male and female domestic workers in married families. The main conclusions are as follows:(1)Women are the main undertakers of married households’ domestic work;(2)The economic foundations of family members largely determine the division of domestic work;(3)Education is a “perfect” factor that promotes equal division of labor within the household.
