The Effect Of Marriage Matching On Marital Satisfaction

Based on the data of China Family Panel Studies in 2014,this paper makes a descriptive analysis on the status quo of marriage matching and marriage satisfaction in China.Then,the binary logistic regression analysis method is adopted to analyze the impact of marriage matching on marriage satisfaction of different genders.The paper also analyzes the heterogeneity of the effect of marriage matching on marital satisfaction among people with different household registration properties and different birth ages.After that,this paper explores whether marriage matching has an impact on marital satisfaction through the mediating role of power status within a couple’s family and differences in marital attitudes.Finally,the paper extended the discussion on the impact of marriage matching on the variables related to marital satisfaction,including the impact of marriage matching on economic contribution satisfaction,household contribution satisfaction,life satisfaction and happiness.First of all,in the part of descriptive analysis,this article mainly draws the following conclusions: Marriage that fits well between husband and wife is still the most important way of marriage,and female high-climbing marriage matches also occupy an important position.With the development of the times,the importance of first-endowed characteristics in marriage matching continues to decline,and the self-induced characteristics reflecting the developmental potential of individuals have attracted more and more attention.Regarding marriage satisfaction,the marriage satisfaction of people with different genders,household registrations and birth years in my country is relatively high,but there are certain differences.The marriage satisfaction of men is higher than that of women,and the marriage satisfaction of urban residents is higher than that of women.The marriage satisfaction of the rural population with registered permanent residence and the level of marriage satisfaction showed slight U-shaped changes in different birth years.Secondly,in the regression model part,this article mainly draws the following conclusions: First,the matching of the education level of the couple has a significant impact on the marriage satisfaction of different genders.In marriages,the party with a higher education level tends to have lower marital satisfaction.However,the matching of the education level of the couple does not affect the marriage satisfaction through the power status of the couple’s family,but the difference in the thoughts and concepts of the husband and the wife.The second is the match of the nature of the household registration and the match of the family background.It will not affect the satisfaction of the marriage,but it will affect the satisfaction of the economic contribution and the satisfaction of the housework contribution.When women were urban domiciled and their husbands were rural domiciled,wives were more satisfied with their husbands’ economic contributions.When women are rural hukou and their husbands are urban hukou,wives are less satisfied with their husbands’ economic contribution.When the man’s family background is better in the marriage,the wife’s satisfaction with the husband’s economic contribution is lower.For marriages in which women have better family background,husbands are more satisfied with their wives’ contribution to housework;Third,the impact of marriage matching on marriage satisfaction of different genders is somewhat heterogeneous among people with different household registration characteristics and birth years;Fourth,there is a certain difference between the conclusions of the impact of marriage matching on marriage satisfaction and the research conclusions of the impact of marriage matching on life satisfaction,happiness and other related variables.
