Fear of negative evaluation(FNE)refers to the individual’s fear of others’ negative evaluation, which leads to the tendency to avoid being evaluated and the belief that others will evaluate themselves negatively. As a result of these factors, individuals will "absorb" other people’s negative evaluation, not good at rationalization, and eventually produce persistent anxiety. This research aims to explore the influencing factors and educational countermeasures of FNE.There are many influencing factors for FNE.This study selected three variables of perceived social support, gender, and personality(proactive personality),and used the perceived social support scale, proactive personality scale, and fear of negative evaluation scale to assess those variables. All junior high school students were tested, and a total of2233 valid questionnaires were obtained, and SPSS was used for statistical analysis.Result:(1)There is a significant gender difference in perceived social support among junior high school students(t=2.32,p<0.01),that is,male students feel more social support than female students. The grade difference in perceived social support was not significant.(2)There is a significant gender difference in proactive personality among junior high school students(t=4.46,p<0.001).Male students have significantly higher scores of proactive personality than female students;there is no significant difference in proactive personality among grades.(3)There is a significant gender difference in the fear of negative evaluation(t=-6.02,p<0.001).Male students’ scores are significantly lower than those of female students. In the grade dimension, the difference in scores for fear of negative evaluation is not significant.(4)Gender has a moderating effect on the relationship between perceived social support and fear of negative evaluation among junior high school students(Z=3.042,p<0.01);compared with male students, male students perceived social support has a stronger negative predictive effect on fear of negative evaluation.(5)Proactive personality has a moderating effect in the relationship between the perceived social support and fear of negative evaluation in junior high school students(β=-0.002,p<0.01);compared with individuals with lower levels of proactive personality, when the level of proactive personality is higher, perceived social support has a stronger negative predictive effect on fear of negative evaluation. The survey found that: both gender and proactive personality of junior high school students have moderating effect on the negative prediction of perceived social support on fear of negative evaluation. In response to the FNE in junior high schools, this study proposes the corresponding educational countermeasures as follows:(1)Optimize the student social support system.Give play to the guiding and educational role of teacher support and family support, and the coordination role of peer support;create a safe and warm interpersonal atmosphere in the support.(2)Create an proactive personality.Fully release the initiative of individual students in social support;shape the initiative personality traits from courses, subject penetration, class management, and family education.(3)Pay attention to gender differences.Develop more targeted intervention strategies for the FNE of junior high school girls.
