Reasoning is a kind of advanced cognitive activity,which can not only improve the efficiency of children’s problem-solving,but also promote the development of children’s logical thinking ability.Previous studies have focused on the inductive reasoning ability of preschool children,but less on the graphic reasoning ability of preschool children.The thinking of preschool children has specific visual characteristics.Therefore,taking graphic materials as research tools is more in line with the thinking characteristics of preschool children,and can accurately grasp the occurrence and development of preschool children’s reasoning ability.This study selected 185 children aged 3 to 6 years from two kindergartens in L city,and used two research methods: individual test method and oral report method to explore the age characteristics,gender differences and the influence of topic types on the choice of graphic reasoning strategies of preschool children.And on this basis,put forward the relevant suggestions to cultivate and improve the reasoning ability of preschool children.This study found that:1.Preschool children already have certain graphic reasoning ability,but the overall level is still low.With the increase of age,preschool children’s graphic reasoning ability is improving.The development of preschool children’s graphic reasoning ability is relatively slow in the age of 3~4 to 4~5 years,and the development of graphic reasoning ability of preschool children is relatively fast between in the age of 4~5 to 5~6 years.However,the gender difference in graphic reasoning ability of preschool children was not significant.2.Preschool children can use a variety of graphic reasoning strategies,but we still use two low-level strategies: autonomous imagination strategy and perceptual matching strategy.The choice of graphic reasoning strategy for preschool children has significant age-based effect.3~4 years old children mainly use autonomous imagination strategy.4~5 years old children mainly use perceptual matching strategy,and gradually begin to use advanced strategy.The frequency of using advanced strategies increased significantly in 5~6 years old children,while the frequency of using perceptual matching strategies decreased first and then increased.There are gender differences in the choice of graphic reasoning strategies in preschool children,and boys use advanced strategies more frequently than girls.3.Topic types have an effect on the choice of graphic reasoning strategies for children aged 4~5 and 5~6 years,but have little effect on children aged 3~4 years.In order to improve the graphic reasoning ability of preschool children,educators should carry out targeted education depend on the law of preschool children’s graphic reasoning ability;accurately grasp the development characteristics of preschool children’s graphic reasoning ability,and make full use of the rapid development period;understand the gender characteristics of preschool children’s graphic reasoning ability and abandon gender stereotypes;depend on the characteristics of preschool children’s graphic reasoning strategy selection,and give appropriate strategic guidance.
