Karl Jaspers believes that a real university should contain three inseparable contents: knowledge transfer,scientific and academic research,and creative cultural life.For the scholars of the University of Paris in the Middle Ages,life is the carrier of all concrete behaviors,expressing their academic belief and professional pursuit.As a classical university with a long history and cultural tradition and distinct educational philosophy,the distinguished reputation of Paris University has attracted scholars from all over the world to come here.The struggle and cooperation between scholars and the church,the royal and the city authorities over the privileges of scholars have led to the rise and development of the community of scholars in Paris,and formed a set of life patterns with distinct organizational characteristics and group culture in the University,including scholars’ organizational life,knowledge life,residential college life and ritual life.Every segment of life is an important part of the existence and development of scholars in the university,reflecting the special background of the University of Paris and its scholars,it also reveals the cultural tradition of the classical university which was nurtured by the early Paris University.From a historical perspective,as a ‘mother university’,the emergence of the academic community of the University of Paris not only promotes the improvement of the university organization and the formation of the university system,but also creates a unique life mode in culture,laying a solid cultural foundation for the development of modern universities.It is of great significance to study the cultural life tradition of the scholars’ community of the University of Paris in the late Middle Ages when the higher education in Our country has entered the stage of popularization and to explore the important period of the connotation development of higher education.This article mainly adopts the methods of literature research,historical analysis and interdisciplinary research,On the basis of collecting,sorting out and analyzing the materials related to the cultural life of the scholars’ community of the University of Paris in the late Middle Ages,this paper analyzes the background,life types,group characteristics and development evolution of the academic community,so as to provide reference for the improvement and development of university life and academic organizations in China.Therefore,this article is divided into the following four parts:The first part reflects on how the University of Paris and its scholar community emerged and developed from the depths of history under the background of the Middle Ages,and explores the internal structure and identity characteristics of the scholar community.The second part analyzes the organizational life,knowledge life,residential college life,ritual life and other contents of the scholars’ community in the University of Paris in the late Middle Ages,and analyzes its specific connotation and life characteristics.The third part combined with the political,economic and cultural background of the middle Ages,analyzes the characteristics of the cultural life of the scholars’ community in The University of Paris,and reflects the classical university cultural tradition and university spirit.The fourth part reflects on the cultural inheritance and life change of the scholar community in the process of the modern evolution of the university,and on the basis of analyzing the current situation of the cultural life of the scholar community in China’s university,it explores the way of the prosperous cultural life of the scholar community in the university.
