The Study Of Alumni Support In The Identification Construction Of International Students’ Alma Mater

Alma mater recognition is the sense of belonging and honor that alumni have to their alma mater.It enhances the recognition of international students’ alma mater and makes its external development as an important resource for enhancing the international influence of universities,and internal performance as an important resource for improving the quality of university education.The overall development of contemporary universities,the improvement of their own educational level,the soundness of alumni organizations and even the promotion of the work of studying in China are of great significance.Alumni are a special group formed through academic relationships with the university.Alumni power is the positive interaction between alumni and their alma mater and the force that promotes the mutual development of both parties.It is between the support of alumni to the alma mater and the service and assistance of the alma mater to alumni.The resultant force of interaction and mutual condensation.Alumni power plays an important role in assisting the construction of the alma mater’s hardware facilities,improving the living environment,and helping to increase the identity of international students,including providing information and promoting cultural adaptation.In 2018,a total of 492,185 foreign students from 196 countries and regions were studying in 1004 colleges and universities,scientific research institutes and other educational and teaching institutions in 31 provinces,autonomous regions,and municipalities across the country.Studying abroad has become a special group of Chinese college students,and has also become the main target in the cultivation of the identity of the alma mater.However,Chinese universities ignore the social and cultural adaptation problems faced by international students in China and the need to participate in China’s social and cultural life;they do not attach importance to the provision of information for international students before enrollment,and they have not established an activity information release platform for international students;the level of international teaching needs to be improved.All these have affected the international students’ sense of identification with their alma mater.This article takes the University of Mining and Technology as an example.Through questionnaires and interviews,we have learned the influencing factors of the lack of identity of international students’ alma mater,including cultural adaptation,information acquisition,living environment,teaching conditions,etc.Ways for students to identify: 1.Optimize the cross-cultural adaptation of international students in China;2.Improve the quality of education services through human resources;3.Improve the campus environment and conditions;4.Attach importance to the work of alumni.The combination of the four aspects is the current feasible strategy to improve the recognition of international students’ alma mater.
