Human beings are individuals with social attributes.Interpersonal relationship is one of the most basic attributes of human beings in society,which is an important part of social needs,the third layer of Maslow’s hierarchy of needs theory.Not only can good interpersonal relationships benefit the development of individual self-awareness and social skills,but also improve the individual’s self-achievement motivation and mental health.For freshmen who have just entered an unfamiliar campus,more or less,there always exist problems in environmental adaptation and interpersonal communication,of which interpersonal communication problem typically stands out.How to establish good interpersonal relationships with classmates and teachers and how to get along better with parents is particularly significant.perceived social support manifests itself mainly in the subjective feeling and evaluation of social support by individuals,which is a relatively stable trait formed by individuals when confronted with pressure.Self-esteem is one of the core factors in an individual’s self-development,having a direct impact on an individual’s mental health.Students in Senior one are in a period of rapid psychological development,when a good growing environment matters a lot.Starting from the subjective feelings of individuals,perceived social support examines the individual’s understanding of the social support they have received and indicates the individual’s expectations and understanding of social support.At the same time,self-esteem is the individual’s evaluation of oneself.Perceived social support and self-esteem both have a very important impact on individual mental health.Aiming to explore the influence and mechanism of social support and self-esteem on the development of interpersonal relationships in high school freshmen so as to to provide some theoretical support and help for mental health education in schools,this study introduces the two variables,perceived social support and self-esteem.In this study,the measurement tools of "Comprehension Social Support Scale","Self-Esteem Scale" and "Interpersonal Relationship Diagnosis Scale" are applied,the senior one students of five high schools in Hanzhong District are selected as the research objects,and SPSS 25.0 and PROCESS are used to analyze the data and test the mediation effects.The conclusions are as follows:(1)the perceived social support,self-esteem and interpersonal relationship of senior one students are at an intermediate level;(2)In perceived social support aspect,there are no significance differences in terms of gender,places of student source,only child or not and parents’ level of education,while there show significant differences in the following,cadres in class or not,boarding students or not and left-behind students or not;in self-esteem aspect,there are significant differences in terms of gender,places of student source,only child or not,cadres in class or not,boarding students or not,left-behind students or not and parents’ level of education;in interpersonal relationship aspect,there are significant differences in terms of gender,places of student source,only child or not,cadres in class or not,boarding students or not,left-behind students or not and parents’ level of education;(3)Perceived social support positively predicts self-esteem.Self-esteem negatively predicts interpersonal relationship.And perceived social support negatively predicts interpersonal relationship;(4)Self-esteem plays the mediating role in perceived social support and interpersonal relationship.
