| Most women are shackled to a specific aesthetic culture in each period. The current popular standard of "white, young and thin" urges women to approach "new beauty" by adjusting their eating behavior. In this process, some women’s dietary status has gradually become abnormal. They form a vicious circle of eating behavior by over controlling or eating food, which damages women’s physical and mental health.Previous studies have confirmed that self-objectification is closely related to eating disorders, but there is still a relative lack of research on the subclinical characteristics of eating disorders-abnormal eating behavior. The research group is also biased towards high school students and female college students, and female graduate students have not been investigated. Therefore, this study will focus on the relationship between female college students’ self-objectification and abnormal eating behavior, including three dimensions: restrictive eating, emotional eating and exogenous eating. At the same time, social comparison and physical satisfaction will be explored as intermediary variables, and female graduate students will be included as the survey object,Further explore the key factors that directly or indirectly affect abnormal eating behavior.A total of 820 female college students participated in the survey by using selfobjectification questionnaire,Dutch dietary behavior questionnaire, physical appearance comparison questionnaire and college students’ physical dissatisfaction scale.Use SPSS 25.0 software and process plug-in to process and analyze the data.It is hoped that social comparison and physical satisfaction can explain the internal mechanism of female college students’ self-objectification and abnormal eating behavior. The results are as follows:(1)Female college students’ self-objectification can significantly and positively predict abnormal eating behavior, and can significantly and positively predict restrictive diet.(2)Social comparison plays a mediating role in the relationship between female college students’ self-objectification and abnormal eating behavior. It includes playing a partial intermediary role in the relationship between female college students’ selfobjectification and restricted diet;Female college students play a complete intermediary role in the relationship between self-objectification and emotional eating;Female college students play a complete intermediary role in the relationship between self-objectification and exogenous eating.(3)Body satisfaction plays a mediating role in the relationship between female college students’ self-objectification and abnormal eating behavior. It includes playing a partial intermediary role in the relationship between female college students’ selfobjectification and restricted diet;Female college students play a complete intermediary role in the relationship between self-objectification and emotional eating.(4)Female college students’ social comparison and physical satisfaction play a chain intermediary role in self objectification and abnormal eating behavior. There are still two paths in the variable quantum dimension. They are: the chain intermediary model of self-objectification and restrictive diet,self-objectification and emotional eating. The results provide educational suggestions for promoting female college students to form positive body concept and healthy eating behavior, and prevent abnormal eating behavior from further worsening into eating disorder. |
