The related theses of Chang'an science and technology center have been put forward in the field of historical science,whilst few of specific and in-depth studies have been carried out.The formation and development of Chang'an science and technology center in Sui and Tang dynasties could not be separated from the geographical advantages and social resources of Chang'an city.This paper uses the multi-disciplinary analysis method to study the scientists group,scientific institutions,scientific activities and other closely related to the chang 'an science center.In the paper,from the point of view of the community of scientists,the effect of scientific figures,institutions and activities in the period of heyday Chang'an on the culture of Chang'an science and technology was analyzed.95 scientists who had made academic contributions in Chang'an were sorted out,based on historical interpretation on the ancient books and documents.From the aspects of the scientists' academic contribution,origin distribution and official status,etc.,the historical information database was established,so as to analyze the impact of birth background on their growth and the catalytic role of official rate on the development and activities of science.Not only did the formation and development of heyday Chang'an atmosphere depend on the natural geographical advantages,the developed economic foundation and the strong political domination,but also relied on the academic contribution of scientists,the institutionalized development of scientific institutions and the social influence of scientific activities as well.In the paper,the historical process of scientific socialization in the Sui and Tang dynasties was explored in the light of the staff allocation and the functional effectiveness,with regard to the institutions of astronomy,medicine,education and scientific management.From the studying methods concerning to private practice,family inheritance and teaching succession,the mentorship among the scientists and the family education were cleaned up to sort out the historical venation of the cultural development in science and technology,and to further analyze the inheritance and evolution of the academic pedigree of various disciplines in Chang'an of the Sui and Tang dynasties.The spiritual characteristics of the scientist community and the vital role of scientific activities in the development of science and technology in Chang'an were discussed,based on the communication and debates among the scientists,and interaction between the scientists and the society.By employing study theory of the regional history in science and technology,the community of scientists and scientific activities in the ancient Chang'an City were analyzed,in order to deeply explore the educational and management functions of the scientific institutions,to analyze the influence of the talent cultivation,moral education and management system,to argue the position of the science and technology center in the ancient capital Chang'an,and to further investigate the cultural connotation of Chang'an spirit.In the Sui and Tang dynasties,the position of the Chang'an center of science and technology is embodied in a certain number of scientists,scientific achievements and their influence,as well as endogenous drivers of scientific development.To conduct specific research on the traditional science and technology center in the age of capital Chang'an and explore the historical origin of "Chang'an studies",is not only the historical intension of "the Belt and Road Initiative" in the context of the Silk Road,but an important complement to the study on Chang'an and regional science and technology history,and an important measure to build great Xi'an and enhance national identification and cultural confidence.
