With the increasingly severe climate problem and challenges to human survival and development,investors are not only paying attention to the financial returns of companies,but also to the positive value that companies bring to the environment and society.Socially Responsible Investment(SRI)has begun to attract attention from all walks of life..As an important part of socially responsible investment,the environment,society and corporate governance(ESG)system refers to from the perspective of stakeholders,emphasizing that enterprises should not sacrifice the environment as a price while developing the economy and pursuing wealth and profits,and be proactive Undertake social responsibilities and protect the interests of stakeholders.Therefore,an accurate assessment of ESG is an important prerequisite for socially responsible investment.This paper constructs an ESG evaluation index system,establishes a comprehensive index evaluation model based on integrated empowerment,and conducts ESG performance evaluation with samples of Chinese and American companies participating in the Carbon Disclosure Project(CDP)survey in 2018 and 2019.The research results show that: overall,ESG performance in 2019 is higher than that in 2018;in 2018 and 2019,US companies' ESG performance and various dimensions are significantly higher than Chinese companies at the level of 5%;ESG performance and various dimensions are also higher across industries There are significant differences.In addition,this article takes China National Offshore Oil Corporation and Conoco Phillips as examples to compare and analyze the environmental,social and corporate governance scores of leading companies in the Chinese and American petroleum industries.ESG performance is lower than that of Conoco Phillips in the United States,and performance in environmental and social items is almost the same as that of Conoco Phillips in the United States.Through further analysis of the differences,it provides reference suggestions for China National Offshore Oil Corporation and China's ESG improvement.
