Research On The Impact Of Environmental Regulation On The Quality Of Chinese Enterprises' Export Products

Since China's accession to the WTO,the trade relationship between China and other countries has become increasingly close,and the total amount of foreign trade has also increased rapidly.However,behind China's remarkable achievements in economic development,it is also suffering from more serious environmental pollution.Obviously,the traditional economic and trade growth model at the expense of ecological environment is unsustainable.At present,China's foreign trade growth mode is in urgent need of transformation,and it is imperative to promote high-quality trade growth.As pointed out in the outline of the 14 th five year plan,it is necessary to optimize the domestic and international market layout,commodity structure and trade mode on the basis of domestic and international double circulation,so as to continuously improve the export quality.In this context,it is of great theoretical and practical value to systematically evaluate and study the impact of environmental regulation on the quality of Chinese enterprises' export products.Firstly,this paper systematically reviews the existing research literature on environmental regulation and export product quality at home and abroad,and summarizes the calculation methods of key indicators such as environmental regulation and export product quality;secondly,on the basis of the above work,through theoretical analysis and empirical test,this paper explores the impact of environmental regulation on the quality of Chinese enterprises' export products,and analyzes and verifies the potential impact mechanism between the two;finally,considering the objective differences of regions and industries,the heterogeneity test is carried out on the impact of environmental regulation on the quality of export products.In order to provide theoretical reference and empirical evidence for the formulation of China's environmental policy and the transformation and upgrading of export trade in the future.The results show that:(1)Environmental regulation has a "U" relationship with the quality of Chinese enterprises' export products,that is,low-intensity environmental regulation will reduce the quality of export products,while more than a certain intensity of environmental regulation will promote the quality of import and export products.(2)The robustness test shows that the "U" relationship between environmental regulation and export product quality is robust by using the methods of changing environmental regulation variables,changing export product quality variables and instrumental variables.(3)The impact mechanism test shows that environmental regulation has product innovation effect,R&D incentive effect and overall product optimization effect,that is,environmental regulation affects the quality of Chinese enterprises' export products by influencing product innovation,R&D investment and low-quality enterprises' exit.(4)Heterogeneity test shows that the impact of environmental regulation on the quality of export products has certain trade type differences,regional differences and enterprise ownership differences.
