| Attention / deficit hyperactivity disorder(abbreviated as ADHD)is found mostly in the pediatric population and is characterized by inattention,easy impulsivity,and hyperactivity.Research on the emotional aspect abilities of children with ADHD is gradually becoming a hot spot in recent years,and studies have shown that children with ADHD have deficits in emotional understanding and recognition,among others.And the existence of such children can be seen in daily life,they are very similar to ADHD children,will develop ADHD behavioral characteristics,but the degree of performance does not meet the criteria of ADHD,such children are called ADHD prone children.This study aimed to compare the differences in recognition of facial expressions of six basic emotions between children with ADHD predisposition and normal children.Thirty two ADHD prone and 32 normal children were screened from the third,fourth,and fifth grade in a primary school in Shijiazhuang,Hebei Province as the experimental and control groups,respectively,by taking the emotion labeling paradigm,30 anger,disgust,fear,pleasure,sadness,and surprise faces were randomly presented to the two groups of subjects in six different emotion types picture materials,The ratio analyzes the correct rate of facial expression recognition when compared with the response time and thus examines the current state of facial expression recognition in the two groups of children.The results showed that the rate of correct recognition of both positive and negative emotions was poorer in ADHD prone children compared with normal children.The two groups of children also differed significantly in the rate of correct recognition of positive emotional pleasantness and in the rate of correct recognition of negative emotional anger,fear,and disgust.Thus,ADHD prone children have deficits in facial expression recognition,as indicated by significantly lower recognition correct rates of pleasant,angry,fearful and aversive emotions than normal children. |
