On The Creation Of Cloth And White In Chinese Snow Landscape Painting

Snow landscape is a very special painting subject.As a part of "four seasons of landscape",it has always been loved by people.Because of its unique spiritual connotation,it exists independently as a special subject.Since ancient times,many painters have created landscape paintings with snow themes.Different from the common landscape paintings,the snow theme uses the technique of "white" to express "snow".Basing on the author’s work Snowy Cangshan,this paper centres on how to leave intended blank in creating snow landscape paintings.The first chapter discusses the snow landscape theme’s special status in the history of painting and aesthetic taste from the view of the development of snow landscape paintings.The second chapter mainly elaborates what is leaving intended blank and it provides theoretical fulcrum for the subsequent creation.The third chapter provides valuable experience for my drawing practice by analyzing the intended blank and techniques in the works of the painter whose object is Taihang Mountain.The fourth chapter is the key chapter showing author’s drawing process and perception,in which the author illustrates the application of intended blank in practice from the aspects of conception,composition,painting and coloring,and finally summarizes and ponders on the problems and acquisition in drawing.I hope to make a contribution to the research and development of snow landscape paintings through my drawing practice.
