Fairy tale breaks the limitation of time and space with a liberating power, giving people the possibility to seize the history and express the present. As a classic western fairy tale, the story of Snow White changes with passage of time, presenting different discourses of the times.Turning the historical flow of the image of Snow White into a clue, starting from the image of Snow White in Grimm's fairy tales, the paper systematically examines the images of Snow White in the works of Disney films, postmodern writer Bathelme and female writer Anne Sexton, returns to the ever-changing historical scene and explores the era factors and cultural implications of the image change of Snow White.First of all,the paper traces the origin of Grimm's fairy tales and related versions, analyzes the story of Snow White between different versions and then points out that the brothers Grimm have made adjustments to the story of Snow White under the influence of the narrators and different English translations, thus realizing the historical leap from folk tales to literary texts. The emergence of literary texts provides a new dimension for the expression of folk tales and also freezes down the disciplined image of Snow White.Stripping off the cloak of personalization, the decisive factor affecting the modification of the story is the rising middle bourgeoisie, which begins to reshape the public sphere through its mastery of forms of cultural expression.Folk tales are "civilized" in the sphere to pander to the aesthetic tastes of the upper bourgeoisie.Secondly, through the analysis of the reasons for the adaptation of the Disney full-length animation Snow White and the seven dwarfs and the image of Snow White in the films, the paper points out that the adaption of the Disney company shows the expectation and demand of the American society for the social identity of women under the economic crisis. The film's success has also accelerated the pace of Disney company into the international market.Relying on the development of mass media,Disney company integrates fairy tales into a cultural industry in the form of entertainment.Although the development promotes the spread of fairy tales to some extent,it weakens the active cultural communication and makes consumer passive unconsciously. Therefore, the paper holds a point that Disney's production must be critically viewed so as to strike a balance between market and culture. Finally, starting with the cultural phenomenon of the rewriting of fairy tales in 1960s,the paper selects the postmodern writer Donald barthelme's novel Snow White and female writer Anne sexton's long poem Snow White and the seven dwarfs, and respectively discusses the image of Snow White in the works, thereby reflecting fairy tales have the charm that can transcend the limitation of time and space and the liberating power that can break through the authority.
