In China,the increasing demand for the intercultural specialist accelerates the internationalization of Higher education and the enlarging scale of the foreign teachers' group.Foreign teachers may be the first batch of intercultural communicators for the most German major students,which is the reason why the intercultural competence of them is important.This paper researched the foreign teachers' intercultural competence based on the cases from Germany major of the universities in the northeast of China.In order to acquire intuitive impressions and perceptual knowledge,this paper is purposing to have a preliminary understanding of the foreign teachers' intercultural competence through empirical research and the following questions were raised:1.What are the typical intercultural experiences or conflicts of foreign teachers in their work and life?2.What intercultural competence do foreign teachers have and how do they demonstrate them?3.What strategies do foreign teachers choose to solve problems when they encounter intercultural conflicts?Based on the above questions,the author used semi-structured interviews to collect research data and conducted an empirical study using qualitative research methods.The outline of the interview comes from two aspects: The theoretical research in the second chapter and the empirical research namely interviews with their students.Therefore,this study considers both perspectives of intercultural communicators.According to the coding and content analysis of the interviews,multiple conclusion was drawn as follow:The typical intercultural conflicts encountered by foreign teachers mainly cover three aspects: different "expression and thinking mode","interpersonal view" and "teaching and learning culture".To overcome the above problems,the intercultural competence of foreign teachers works synergistically.Based on empirical and theoretical research,the author develops the intercultural competence model of foreign teachers.
