A Comparative Study Of Chinese-English Dialogues Is Omitted

This paper takes " Ellipsis in Dialogue " as the research object,and firstly clarifies the concept of "dialogue" in Chinese and English as "conversation between two or more people(mostly between characters in novels or dramas)".The ellipsis component has "completeness" at the syntactic level,that is,it must be supplemented according to the context,and the supplementary words can only have one possibility,but the rhetoric intentionally omitted at the pragmatic level is no need to restore.So the research scope of " Ellipsis in Dialogue " was finally determined to be "occurring in the process of dialogue communication,which is reflected in the omission of syntactic components and cognitive pragmatic planes,supplemented by multi-modality,interactive functions,and typology In-depth research from a different perspective ";Secondly,the omitted expressions of different syntactic components such as subject,predicate and object in the dialogue between Chinese and English were compared and summarized the similarities and differences;After that,it was discovered that the ellipsis in dialogue between two languages in different cognitive pragmatic levels such as communicative context,rhetorical devices and information structure.This part is also the innovation of this paper.Finally,the author expands the study of ellipsis in dialogue from multi-modality,interactive features and typology contrast to the Japanese and Vietnamese.At the same time,the priority order of syntactic component ellipsis: subject ellipsis>object ellipsis>predicate ellipsis was proposed innovatively.This paper combines the methods of comparative linguistics and discourse analysis.It will not only provide new ideas for the study of the ellipsis in dialogue between Chinese and English but also be helpful for Chinese-English translation and classroom teaching.
