With the development of modern society and the trend of globalization,second language acquisition is becoming more and more popular.Nowadays,studying on second language teaching with the background knowledge of linguistics has becoming a prevalent trend and gaining more and more attention.At present,many achievements have been made in western countries compared with in China in terms of many aspects of linguistic study.And the outstanding outcome from western countries should also be learned constantly.Therefore,this linguistics book,Second Language Acquisition and Task-Based Language Teaching,written by famous American professor Mike Long about second language acquisition and Task-Based Language Teaching was chosen,and the writer hopes that after translating,it may provide a new prospect for further study in this area.Besides,the book is an academic text about linguistics and many kinds of abstract nouns and comparative constructions are used in the book.In term of all above,this paper concludes different translation methods after translating this kind of text by making an analysis about abstract nouns,comparative constructions and thematic progression patterns.And this translation practice is expected to provide reference for the translation of this kind of text.
