| The problem of character shaping has always been the focus and difficulty of screenplay creation.A good storyteller always writes characters in a dramatic conflict full of tension. When some screenwriters start a story, they are always in a hurry to design events and arrange the plot so as to ignore the polishing of the characters, which is putting the cart before the horse. Therefore,it is very important to explore the setting of characters in the process of script creation. In order to avoid the emergence of flat characters,we should pay attention to many problems when shaping the characters, such as the pursuit of personalized character attitude, distinct character arc and strong dramatic pursuit and so on.The screenplay<Piano and the Cat>is a script with women as the double protagonists. It tells the story of a withdrawn policewoman,Chen Li,and a sensitive autistic female high school student,Jiu Yi,who get to know each other and redeem each other after getting along with each other in a smuggling case. This play polarizes the two protagonists, deliberately sets binary opposites in identity and ideas,so that the characters themselves are in conflict. In addition,it also pays attention to depict the trauma of the two people in the process of individual growth,so as to rationalize it into the cause of their opposition,so as to make the characters more three-dimensional and fuller.Based on the existing research results, and combined with the author’s thinking and perception in the creation of the screenplay<Piano and the Cat>,this paper studies, analyzes and summarizes the polarization of the characters in the screenplay creation. The first part is the introduction, from the significance of the topic, research status and research methods are discussed in detail, and an overview of the script. The second part discusses the setting of polarization of characters with personal works. The third part discusses the conflicts that serve for the setting of characters with the combination of personal works. The fourth part is a summary of the creative value of personal works and reflection on the shortcomings. |
