From "Declaration of War to the Destructors of Cultural Relics" written by Hugo during the transition period of civilization,to the world heritage convention, which marks a consensus on the concept of human heritage. The historical, scientific and artistic values as well as core values of cultural heritage have received great attention, and their relationship with social and economic development has become increasingly complex.Under this new normal,General Secretary Xi has given important instructions to "make the heritage alive".Among the many practices of cultural heritage activation and utilization, tourism activation is one of the important ways. With the passage of history and the change of site structure, the core of cultural heritage, genius loci, has the characteristics of preserving place spirit, historical context and self-renewal.It provides a new perspective for the protection and utilization of cultural heritage. As an innovative form of cultural heritage protection and utilization, the heritage park is a typical place to embody the genius loci. Therefore, this paper selects the Darning Palace National Heritage Park as the case, trie to expand the theoretical system of genius loci of cultural heritage sites, and explores the coordinated development of heritage protection and tourism development. This paper focuses on two major issues:one is to explore the dimension and connotation of the genius loci of cultural heritage;the other is to explore the influence of tourists' genius loci perception on their heritage identity and post-tour behavior intention. The main research content of the article is:through literature review and combing, combined with relevant theories, the research hypothesis and theoretical model are proposed.By using the methods of literature analysis and content analysis, this paper explores the dimensions of the genius loci perception of the tourists of the case, and develops a its measurement scale. Then, based on relevant research results, the measurement items of heritage identity and post-tour behavioral intention were selected, questionnaires were compiled and field research was conducted. The sample data were tested and statistically analyzed, the structural equation model was constructed for for result analysis. Finally, the main research conclusions of this paper were drawn as follows:(1)The dimensional composition of genius loci perception. The study found that cultural heritage sites were activated and utilized through tourism, which not only preserved the genius loci and historical context, but also created new genius loci in meeting the requirements of the times and people's needs. The continuation and renewal of genius loci adds epochal value to the cultural heritage. From the perspective of the nature and characteristics of the site,it increases the ways of cultural heritage protection and value inheritance, and revitalizes the cultural heritage of tourism activation in urban development.By exploring the dimensions and elements of genius loci, and testing the genius loci perception scale,a measurement scale including 5 dimensions and 17 measurement factors was finally formed. It is concluded that the characteristics of tourists' genius loci perception of the case include:the perception of natural environment and site functions of the heritage park is higher, that of artificial environment and site activities is second, and that of cultural environment is the lowest. The perception difference of tourists in the same dimension is small.By constructing and testing the structural model of place mental perception, the five-dimensional structure of genius loci perception is verified.(2)The influence of tourists' genius loci perception on their heritage identity and post-tour behavior intention. The "perception, identification and intention" theoretical model established in this study, which reveals the important role and influencing mechanism of genius loci perception and heritage identification in the process of cultural heritage tourists' post-tour behavior intentions. The research results prove that the continuation and renewal of genius loci, and the visitors' perception of genius loci, which can promote the heritage and protection of cultural heritage,as well as the sustainable development of heritage tourism.By constructing a structural equation model and path analysis, the results validate the research hypothesis and theoretical model.Tourists 'genius loci perception positively affects their heritage identity and post-tour behavior intention.Tourists' heritage identity is positively related to their post-tour behavior intention. The relationship model of"perception, identification and intention" from the perspective of genius loci is established. This paper attempts to make innovations in the following aspects:(1)The literature analysis and content analysis methods are used to develop the indicators of genius loci perception, and the structural equation model is constructed, which to enrich the quantitative research of genius loci and heritage identity.(2)The paper explores the five-dimensional structure of tourists' genius loci perception of cultural heritage, and verifies the relationship model of "perception, identification and intention”from the perspective of genius loci.(3)From the perspective of genius loci that reflects the nature and characteristics of cultural heritage sites, this paper explores the coordinated development between the protection of cultural heritage and tourism development. Finally, this paper puts forward some suggestions for the management of Darning Palace National Heritage Park and other cultural heritage scenic spot:Deeply excavating the genius loci of the heritage park, highlighting the leisure and recreational functions, enriching the site activities, and deepening the cultural and educational significance.
