Research On Fan Chengda's Geographical Poetry

Fan Chengda is one of the four great poets of Zhong Xing period in the Southern Song Dynasty,who has a very important position.in the history of ancient Chinese poetry.Fan Chengda has traveled to Gui Lin in Guang Xi province,which is in the south of China and he was sent to You Yan region as an ambassador,which is in the north of China.What’s more,Fan Chengda has traveled to Cheng Du in Si Chuan province,which is in the west of China and he has traveled to the east coastal areas,they are in the east of China.Fan chengda traveled around the world,visiting a variety of landscapes and experiencing various customs 。 Fan chengda’s broad footprints,colorful life experiences,highly conscious geographical awareness and the writing habits made him write a large number of geographical poems 。 These geographical poems depict a wide variety of natural geographical landscapes and human geographical landscapes in different places of the Southern Song Dynasty.These geographical poems are gradually formed along with Fan Chengda’s life path。It mainly consists of six different creative stages,which are "the period of sojourning and studying hard in Suzhou for ten years","the period of attending Jin Ling imperial examination and taking office in Huizhou","the period as an ambassador send to You Yan region which is in the north of China ","the period of went to Gui Lin in Guang Xi province which is in the south of China as an official”,“the period of went to Cheng Du in Si Chuan province,which is in the west of China as an official”,“the period of went to the east coastal areas,which are in the east of China as an official”.In the different periods of his life,Fan Chengda depicted the natural geographical landscapes and human geographical landscapes of different places in his geographical poems.These numerous and varied natural geographical landscapes and human geographical landscapes can be divided into six types of landscapes,namely,"mountain landscape","water landscape","administrative region landscape","religious architectural landscape","garden architectural landscape" and "folk landscape".Fan Chengda has described these various types of landscapes in detail in his geographical poems.In his geographical poems,Fan Chengda not only wrote these landscapes in the form of "sub-texts",such as "captions","in-poem notes" and "end notes",but also used a variety of poetic forms to describe these landscapes in detail,such as the form of a group poem and the form of a variety of poems,such as Liu Shi,Jue Ju,Yue Fu poem,Bamboo song and Hai Ku song.In the emotion of geographical poems the poet has three main characteristics: patriotism,concern for the people,homesickness and compassion for farmers.Finally,from the perspective of poetry value,Fan Chengda’s geographical poems has literary value,historical data value and tourism value.From the point of view of its influence,Fan Chengda’s geographical poems had an important influence on the creation of Chinese classical poems after the Song Dynasty in three aspects,such as exploring the description material of poetry,enriching the description technique of landscape and creating the writing of regional culture.
