The Relationship Between Depression, Anxiety And Parenting Style | | Posted on:2021-05-04 | Degree:Master | Type:Thesis | | Country:China | Candidate:C S Lv | Full Text:PDF | | GTID:2515306092495254 | Subject:Applied psychology | | Abstract/Summary: | PDF Full Text Request | | Depression and anxiety are common mental health problems among prisoners,which not only affect the effect of prison education and reform,but also affect the resocialization function of prisoners.Clinical studies have shown that symptoms of depression and anxiety often appear at same time.This suggests a comorbid relationship between the two symptoms.In addition,Comorbidity phenomenon are also common in other mental disorders such as attention deficit hyperactivity disorder and other mental disorders.In recent years,some scholars have put forward network measurement to explain comorbidity.The theory holds that mental disorders produced in complex interactions between symptoms.Past studies have found that parental rearing patterns can predict depression and anxiety,But previous studies mostly adopt the method of regression analysis in the score of depression and anxiety as analysis unit,ignoring the parenting style affect the "contact" of depression and anxiety,the contact is what dimensions of parenting style act on which specific symptoms and thus influence the entire network of depressive and anxiety symptoms.Using the network analysis method,this study firstly constructs the psychological network structure of depression and anxiety symptoms of structure,discusses the relationship between depression and anxiety symptoms.Then,we explore which specific symptoms of depression and anxiety affect the overall symptom network through the parenting style of male prisoners.In this study,2068 male prisoners of a prison in Guangdong province,aged between 18 and 65,were as object of study.Patient health questionnaire(PHQ-9),generalized anxiety disorder(GAD-7),and parental bonding instrument(PBI)were used to measure the levels of depression,anxiety,and parenting style of male prisoners.The results:(1)the central symptoms of the depression and anxiety network are GAD-2(uncontrollable worry)and GAD-4(trouble relaxing).(2)the most important bridging symptom in the depression and anxiety network is PHQ-8(moving slowly/restless)nodes and GAD-7(afraid something awful might happen)nodes.(3)parental parenting style influences PHQ-9(the idea of dying or hurting oneself in some way)through parental care,and the symptoms affect the depression-anxiety symptom network.(4)parental rearing style influences the network of depression-anxiety symptoms through parental control affecting PHQ-9(suicidal thoughts anxiety symptoms).(5)paternal care affected GAD-6(irritable)symptoms through paternal care and affected the entire network of depression-anxiety symptoms. | | Keywords/Search Tags: | depression, anxiety, parenting style, network analysis, prisoners | PDF Full Text Request | Related items |
