Research On The Influence Of College Students’ Automatic Thought And Parenting Style On Depression | | Posted on:2020-01-18 | Degree:Master | Type:Thesis | | Country:China | Candidate:F Wang | Full Text:PDF | | GTID:2415330623961026 | Subject:Applied Psychology | | Abstract/Summary: | PDF Full Text Request | | The prevalence of depression is on the rise year by year.Depression not only destroys college students’ mental health,but also affects their normal physiological functions and seriously damages their social functions.The high suicide rate of depression also increases the operational risks of colleges and universities.Although there have been a lot of studies on the influencing factors and treatment methods of depression,there is still a gap in the research on the social psychological factors including individual automatic thoughts,parenting style and depression.This study investigated the negative automatic thoughts,parenting style and depression of college students.In order to control the quality of survey data,the parenting style questionnaire was simplified based on the assurance of reliability and validity.The influence of negative automatic thoughts and parenting style on depression was discussed.This paper discusses the influence of parenting style on the formation of negative automatic thoughts of college students.This study adopts questionnaire survey method and case interview method,and mainly adopts yue dongmei et al.’s revised parenting style questionnaire,negative automatic thoughts scale and self-rating depression scale for investigation and research.The subjects were from ten colleges and universities in kunming,and used descriptive statistics,variance analysis,correlation analysis,regression analysis,structural modeling and other statistical methods to process and analyze the effectivedata.The results are as follows:(1)It is generally accepted that the frequency of negative automatic thoughts in college students is in the middle level..(2)There is a significant correlation between college students’ automatic thought and their father’s degree of education.There was a significant interaction between the grade and parents’ education level.(3)In terms of parenting style,fathers scored higher in emotional warmth,while mothers scored higher in over-intervention,denial and severe punishment.(4)The depression detection rate of college students was 43.6%,29.2% for mild,11.3% for moderate and 3.1% for severe.(5)There was no difference in demographic variables.Depression was significantly correlated with grade and parental education.(6)In terms of parenting style,there were significant differences between high depression group and low depression group except parents’ preference,among which high depression group was significantly lower than low depression group in terms of emotional warmth and understanding of parents,and high depression group was significantly higher than low depression group in other 7 dimensions.(7)Negative automatic thoughts was positively correlated with depression.(8)In parenting style,emotional warmth of parents is significantly negatively correlated with negative automatic thoughts and depression,while other dimensions are significantly positively correlated with negative automatic thoughts and depression.(9)EMBU scale was a3-factor model,which included negative parenting style including severe punishment from parents and denial.Emotional warmth and preference of parents.(10)In the influence of negative parenting style on depression,automatic thoughts plays a mediating role.In the influence of parents’ emotional warmth on depression,automatic thoughts plays a part of mediating role.Parental preference had no significant effect on depression.This study from the college students’ negative automatic thoughts,the ways of parents teaching two aspects to discuss the influence on depression,the results can be for colleges and universities to develop depression in college students’ psychological counseling and intervention targeted understanding negative automatic thoughts andway of parenting role,for college students will provide a scientific basis for prevention and intervention of depression. | | Keywords/Search Tags: | College students, Negative automatic thoughts, Parenting style, Depression | PDF Full Text Request | Related items |
