Textual Research On The Original Engraved Version Of "Ten Zhuzhai Calligraphy And Painting Manual"

As the earliest existing color-printing painting collection,The Ten Bamboo Studio Collection of Calligraphy and Painting,which was completed in the late Ming Dynasty,assumes a profound significance in both the history of printmaking and the history of printing.Since its first publication,it has been enjoying a very high purchasing demand,and a large diversity of its reprinted versions has also been circulating and passed down.Despite the almost simultaneous research and version categorization conducted by the Chinese and foreign academia since the 1930 s,different conclusions about the original block-printed version of The Ten Bamboo Studio Collection of Calligraphy and Painting have been put forward based on the independent studies.By combining practical experience with image comparison,the aforementioned contradictions are explored and addressed herein on the account of textual criticism.Moreover,this study verifies the integrity as to whether the original blocks has revision and reprints has been carried out for over 300 years.Afterward,on the basis of the existing results,this study attempts to identify the appearance of the first batch of the original block-printed version of The Ten Bamboo Studio Collection of Calligraphy and Painting,and then organizes as well as revises the past research conclusions on the subsequent batch of the original block-printed version.
