The Romance of the Three Kingdoms is China's first historical romance novel written in the form of chapter back.From the historical truth that happened in the latter years of East Han Dynasty to the writing of the fictional historical romance,thousands of years passed by.This process brought together the wisdom of countless literati,civics,folk artists,and they continuously recorded,created,and interpreted the stories of the Three Kingdoms.The Romance of the Three Kingdoms is a typical generational cumulative work,and the question of the true authors of this novel needs to be further explored.The research on the author of The Romance of the Three Kingdoms has gone through the following four periods,from the controversy in the Yuan,Ming and Qing Dynasties,to half of the 20 th century of taking history as evidence,to the political radiation in the 30 years after the founding of the country and hundred schools of contention since reform and opening up,every period of research has its advantages and disadvantages.On the one hand,the reconstruction of the criticism system of Chinese classical novels,the development and maturity of the "collective creation theory" have advanced the research on the authors of The Romance of the Three Kingdoms.On the other hand,the research process also has limitations such as credulous historical materials and excessive discussion of inconclusive issues.Sort out and summarize the previous discussion and research on the authors of the Romance of the Three Kingdoms,which can establishing archives for the academic history of the authors of The Romance of the Three Kingdoms,or as a typical study to think about the problem of authorship of Chinese classical novels.
