In junior high school English teaching,grammar teaching is an indispensable part,but at the same time,grammar learning is also a big problem for students.Many students think that English grammar is too difficult,they have no interest and confidence to learn grammar well,and students are used to passively accept knowledge in grammar class,which leads to the poor effect of students' grammar learning.The main reason for this problem is the lack of effective grammar teaching methods,teachers in the process of teaching teachers as the center,lack of students' interest in learning and autonomous learning ability.Discovery method is a kind of teaching method to cultivate students' learning ability.This method takes students as the center and pays attention to the cultivation of students' interest in learning and autonomous learning ability,which is conducive to enhancing students' grammar learning effect.In view of this,on the basis of previous studies,this paper applies discovery teaching method to junior high school English grammar teaching,at the same time,the study focuses on the two problems:1.Can discovery teaching method improve junior high school students' interest in grammar learning?2.Can discovery teaching method improve junior high school students' English grammar scores?In this study,a total of 84 students from two classes of Grade 8 in a middle school in Weifang City,Shandong Province were selected as the research objects by using the methods of questionnaire,test and interview.One class is an experimental class,using discovery teaching method to teach grammar,and the other class is a control class.The traditional grammar teaching mode is used for grammar teaching.The teaching content is the grammar content of Volume 1,Grade 8 of the foreign research edition English textbook.Before the experiment,the author conducted a pre-test of grammar in the experimental class and the control class,and distributed questionnaires to the two classes.After the experiment,the experimental class and the control class were given a post-test of English grammar,and the experimental class was surveyed and interviewed.Through the comprehensive analysis of various results,this study draws the following conclusions:1.It is found that the teaching method can significantly improve the junior middle school students' interest in English grammar learning.2.It is found that teaching method can effectively improve junior high school students' English grammar learning scores.The results of this study have the following implications:1.In the discovery teaching method classroom,teachers should pay attention to creating problem situations to stimulate students' learning motivation,and carefully design a series of teaching activities to enable students to contact,experience and use language in the real context.Only in this way can we improve students' interest in grammar learning and their autonomous learning ability.2.Grammar teaching with discovery teaching method provides a stage for students.They should change their previous learning methods,play their dominant role under the guidance of teachers,actively participate in classroom activities,such as discussion and role play,and improve their communicative ability and comprehensive language application ability through various exercises.
