A Cultural Philosophical Interpretation Of Vico's Poetic Wisdom Thought

As a kind of understanding paradigm of philosophy,cultural philosophy’s unique thinking mode has always been the focus of academic research.Vico’s theory of poetic wisdom provides a unique theoretical resource for the exploration of the thinking mode of cultural philosophy.Vico is known as an "encyclopedic" thinker.His ideological system is based on the background of the late Renaissance and the early Enlightenment,reflecting on and criticizing the Cartesianism that swept across the European continent at that time.The theory of "poetic wisdom",as the core content of Vico’s thought system,reexamines the rationality of all human knowledge determined by the concept of "clarity" and abstract logic,and puts forward the principle that "truth is creation" is the construction of human perceptual knowledge.Vico’s theory of poetic wisdom is influenced by Plato’s worldly wisdom,Tacitus’ metaphysical wisdom,Bacon’s empiricism and Glausius’ law and so on,and takes the exploration of human metaphysics as its theoretical basis and starting point.Poetic wisdom emphasizes the equally important significance of sensibility and rationality.It holds that the exuberant imagination and creativity of primitive human beings have distinct poetic characteristics,and the imagination of primitive people is the theoretical foundation of Vico’s poetic wisdom.This paper mainly takes Vico’s New Science as the research text,narrates the generation process of poetic wisdom from three perspectives of cognitive mode,thinking mode and rationality,and reveals three basic characteristics of poetic wisdom:commonality,representativeness and creativity.By elaborating the human nature system and the world outlook in the early period of mankind,this paper shows the framework and logic of the theoretical system of Vico’s poetic wisdom,and reveals the operating mechanism and effect of image-thinking.Vico’s poetic wisdom exalted imagination and imaginal thinking and re-examined the concept of imagination and the definition of the standard of truth in traditional western philosophy.It breaks thethinking mode of the traditional rationalism of subject-object binary absolute opposition and highlights the exuberant vitality contained in the original thinking mode.By tracing back the most profound internal motive force of human development,the historical process of human mind development is excavated to perfect the understanding paradigm of cultural philosophy.Through the exploration of rich cultural forms,it complements and improves the way people perceive the internal world and the external world.We should not only adhere to the science and rationality of modernity,but also cannot forget the primitive thinking in poetic wisdom,we have to strive to understand the rich spiritual world of human beings in more dimensions.
