A Study Of Language Landscape In Daoli District, Harbin

Linguistic landscape has gradually developed into a hot research topic in the field of sociolinguistics,focusing on the language use and selection of signs in social public spaces,usually divided into two categories according to supervisors: official or private signs.Official sign represents the government's position and linguistic policy,whose creator is government agency,and often called top-down signs;private sign is usually set up by private individuals or companies,called unofficial signs or bottom-up signs.The article combines the research theories and methods of language landscape,with these objects of street signs,architectural signs,shop signs,billboards,and posters.Using fieldwork methods to take pictures on the spot and collect information.After quantitative research,the data is sorted out and analyzed.Signs' languages and text forms are analyzed from the perspective of applied linguistics from language code selection,text combination form and arrangement position of the signs.The synchronic characteristics of language landscape,can explore the language ecology and language policies of the country and region,can analyze the distinctive features contained in names and signs,and also can explore the linguistic power,social and cultural characteristics and language awareness behind this type of language landscape.So as to promote people's understanding of the regional language ecology.After investigation and analysis,it is found that the language landscape of Daoli District has problems such as inequality of information,nonstandard writing,damaged signs,and incomplete service groups.The corresponding language landscape construction countermeasures are proposed for the problems,which are a basis for the formulation of language policies and language services at the regional and even national level,and facilitates the promotion of the image of the city and its managers from the linguistic level.
