An Exploration Of Hu Shi's Cultural And Philosophical Thoughts

Since modern times,China has faced various crises,and Hu Shi understood the deepest crisis in Chinese society at that time as a cultural crisis.It was in this context that he started his own cultural philosophical thinking.When the country and the nation,Hu Shi promoted cultural innovation and tried to save the country.This paper tries to comb,analyze and summarize the generation,content,influence,significance and limitations of Hu Shi's cultural philosophy through the exploration of modern Chinese cultural crisis and national survival,and the study,inheritance and development of traditional Chinese culture and western modern thought.The author thinks that his basic cultural view mainly includes cultural evolution theory and cultural life theory.The modern direction of Hu Shi's cultural philosophy is the conscious choice of critical reflection on the basis of the basic cultural view.To this end,Hu Shi thought and studied on individualism,freedom,democracy and other issues,and tried to explore a way out for China's cultural modernization.Hu Shi's "individualism" is its integration of Dewey and Ibsen on individualism,and combined with his own thinking to form a "sound individualism",namely: emphasizing double responsibility,responsibility to himself,responsible to the society."Freedom" is not a luxury but a necessity,and Hu Shi's freedom is summed up in the following meanings.First,to carry forward the rights of people.Second,highlight the sense of responsibility.Third,we should emphasize respect for personality.Fourth,we should obtain their own needs through hard struggle."democracy" is equality,and the relationship between people is the relationship of equality,and there is no class,no oppression,no way of social life of exploitation.At different times,Hu Shi discussed democracy with different emphasis;but overall,in Hu Shi's cognition,he spoke more towards the constitutional guarantee of constitutional democracy.Hu Shi not only pays attention to the important historical inheritance of the Chinese new cultural movement and the Chinese cultural tradition,but also the importance of communication between China's new cultural movement and the Western Renaissance and Enlightenment.and attaches importance to the humanism and rationalist side of the cultural movement.It should put the "China's Renaissance" movement,from spontaneous transformation to conscious,through the literary revolution and literary movement,build a consistent language,establish vernacular literature as authentic literature,let all people can receive education,make the whole nation of humanistic emotion,rational spirit,free spirit and scientific spirit get comprehensive rejuvenation,so as to guide China to full modernization.It can be seen that Hu Shi,as "the first person of the Chinese literary revolution" and "the father of the Chinese Renaissance",his cultural philosophy is of great significance to promoting the cultural construction and modern cultural transformation during the period of China's new cultural movement.
