Writing teaching occupies an important position in senior high school English teaching.And,writing is one of the English language skills that students must master.“English Curriculum Standards for General Senior High Schools(2017 Edition)” put forward higher requirements for students' writing level,requiring students to use language knowledge in an integrated way in common contexts,and students should use written language to express meaning effectively.However,due to the limitation of vocabulary accumulation and the influence of negative transfer of mother tongue,students' writing level is hard to improve,coupled with students' lack of interest in writing and low classroom efficiency,English writing teaching in high school is not satisfactory.Lexical chunks combine the characteristics of grammar,context and semantics,and learners can easily and accurately extract the required lexical chunks when using them.Therefore,students can use language creatively and improve their writing ability by applying lexical chunks learning to English writing.At present,many scholars have studied the combination of lexical chunks theory and English writing teaching,but few have studied the combination of topic-based lexical chunks teaching and high school English writing teaching.In this study,the author applies the topic-based lexical chunks teaching mode to high school English writing training.With input theory,output theory and schema theory as theoretical support.Two parallel classes in Binzhou Yangxin No.2 Senior High School are set up as the contrast class and the experimental class.The two classes adopt different teaching modes and this teaching experiment lasts for three months.This paper studies the effect of topic-based lexical chunks teaching on the improvement of students' writing level and the influence on students' usage of lexical chunks in writing.Among them,the data analyses are mainly processed by SPSS 26.0,and the data are collected from the writing test and questionnaire.The writing tests come from the final English exam of Binzhou City.The questionnaire survey mainly includes three dimensions,including the current situation of students' writing,their attitudes towards English writing and their views on the topic based lexical chunks teaching mode.The following three research questions are discussed:(1)What are the influences of topic-based lexical chunks teaching on students' English writing scores?(2)What are the influences of topic-based lexical chunks teaching on students' usage of lexical chunks in English writing?(3)What are the influences of topic-based lexical chunks teaching on students' interest and confidence in English writing?The experimental results show that:(1)Compared with the traditional writing teaching mode which does not involve lexical chunks and mainly explains vocabulary,phrases and grammar,the topic-based lexical chunks teaching can better improve the quality of English writing teaching and improve the writing level of senior high school students.(2)Topic-based lexical chunks teaching is helpful to improve the students' consciousness of lexical chunks discrimination and ability of using lexical chunks,and increase the diversity and accuracy of lexical chunks usage.(3)Topic-based lexical chunks teaching mode stimulates students' interest in English writing and enhances their confidence in learning writing.
