Vocabulary learning is an indispensable part of language learning.If students lack English vocabulary,this will cause a decline in students' English learning performance and interest.Vocabulary learning strategies can increase students' vocabulary learning efficiency and vocabulary size.So,they play an important role in English vocabulary learning.Many domestic and foreign scholars have done lots of theoretical and empirical research on the feasibility and effectiveness of vocabulary learning strategy training.The research shows that vocabulary learning strategy training can effectively improve students' vocabulary learning efficiency.While,most of the studies focus on the cultivation of vocabulary learning strategies for senior high school students and college students,and there is little action research on the cultivation of English learning strategies for junior high school students.Therefore,based on Gagne's information processing theory and reflective teaching theory,this study adopts the way of action research and uses strategy questionnaire,vocabulary breadth,and depth test papers and interviews with 49 students in a class of grade two in Yutai Experimental Middle School of Jining city to conduct action research on the cultivation of English vocabulary learning strategies.This study specifically answers the following three questions:(1)How to carry out the teaching centered on the cultivation of vocabulary learning strategies?(2)How does the cultivation of English vocabulary learning strategies influence junior high school students' use of English vocabulary learning strategies?(3)What's the influence of vocabulary learning strategy training on junior high school students' English vocabulary level?The results show that:(1)the combination of explicit training and recessive training in classroom teaching,centralized training,decentralized training,and individual counseling,can effectively train students' vocabulary learning strategies by improving the teaching methods of teachers' vocabulary.(2)The cultivation of English vocabulary learning strategies has obvious help to the use of junior high school students' English learning strategies,which mainly shows in two aspects: first,through the cultivation of vocabulary learning strategies,junior high school students have improved their awareness of using vocabulary learning strategies.Secondly,after the training of vocabulary learning strategies,students can use more vocabulary learning strategies.(3)The cultivation of English vocabulary learning strategies can significantly improve the students' vocabulary level.Through data comparison and analysis,there are significant differences in the students' scores in the vocabulary breadth and depth,and the post-test scores are higher than the pre-test,which indicates that the students' vocabulary level has improved after training.The research has the following implications:(1)Teachers should concentrate on the cultivation of students' English vocabulary learning strategies,change the traditional teaching method of ignoring students' learning strategies,and gradually improve their professional level and teaching ability.(2)The cultivation and learning of English vocabulary learning strategies need to be insisted for a long time,which makes the use of learning strategies normalized.(3)In the teaching of English vocabulary learning strategies,we should teach according to their aptitude,and adopt different teaching methods for students with different basic level and acceptance ability,so as to analyze the specific problems.
