An Investigation And Research On Bilingual Usage Of "Han-Yi" Among Han Villagers In Liangshan

The thesis investigates the use of Chinese and Yi by Han people in Sanhe Village,Lianghekou Town,Xide County based on first-hand data.Sanhe Village is home to many ethnic groups.In the previous investigations about language use,villages speaking both ethnic languages and Chinese were rarely used as the research objects,while this thesis investigates Han people speaking both Chinese and Yi to promote language and cultural harmony in ethnically mixed villages and to promote a sense of community for the Chinese nation.The thesis is mainly divided into three parts:introduction,body and conclusion.The first part includes the reason why I select this topic and its significance,term definitions,literature review and data source of previous researches as well as research methods.The main body is further divided into four chapters.The first chapter introduces the physical geography and social environment of Sanhe Village and the languages used by its Han people.The second chapter describes and analyzes their proficiency in Yi and the types of Yi dialects used.Chapter 3 summarizes and analyzes why they speak both Chinese and Yi from the perspectives of historical evolution and socioeconomic and cultural development.Chapter 4 examines their attitudes towards Chinese and Yi and the development trend of language use,and offers some suggestions for building a harmonious bilingual environment and promoting the Chinese nation’s sense of community.Then comes the conclusion.
